FRANCES is unhappy to see PHOEBE make use of her identity as a patient to satisfy her own need and that she claims that she is going to win PAUL’s sympathy. After knowing about SARAH’s illness, TY tells her that he will re-arrange her jobs. He also advises her to accept her friends’ support. MC teases at HENRY, who is being uneasy. GRACE goes with them. HENRY is at a bookshop when he meets SUE, who sent the victim of a car accident to hospital the other day. PAUL returns to his car to take something, leaving FRANCES alone in the bar. When he returns, he is shocked to see that something has happened in the bar. He tells FRANCES how worried he is. MC sees HENRY and SUE together. HENRY worries that he will tell SARAH about this. PHOEBE is standing dangerously at the roof top. PAUL manages to persuade her into giving up her suicidal thought. After meeting with a bone cancer patient of SARAH’s, PAUL has a new light in life and decides to go out with FRANCES. BETSY reports duty at the Cardiac Department. MC tests her with some questions, and is dissatisfied with her performance. MC has been granted YEUNG’s custody at last. He, nevertheless, he lets YEUNG go to the States with his mother believing he will have better treatment for his problem there. CHRIS is inspired by some disabled athletes and their families. He decides not to escape from reality by playing computer games anymore. YEUNG is suspected to have inherited anemia. HENRY is angry. SARAH has dinner with MC and YEUNG. During the dinner, she advises MC not to fight with MARTHA in court for YEUNG’s custody. MC does not listen, nevertheless. NELSON plays bowling with FRANCES. He feels sick in the middle of the course because of the noisy environment there. PHOEBE launches a fund-raising activity for KWONG so that he can afford his medical fees. She also invites the press to have interviews with him in the hospital. PAUL is displeased with all these. GRACE and DEREK go to the movie. He receives a call, telling him that ANGUS has blacked out at home. Fortunately, DEREK’s mother sees this and rushes him to hospital before it is too late. DEREK is unhappy to know that ANGUS has quite his job for his health. YEUNG invites SARAH home for dinner. MC is busy with work and so cannot go home to cook. YEUNG uses up his pocket money to buy something for the dinner, after which he has to walk home. MAN offers to help him cook when he sees how helpless he is. MAN collapses when he is cooking; YEUNG is panic. DEREK scolds ANGUS for giving up his job as a doctor. When he finishes, he stomps away. PAUL, who sees everything, goes up and gives him a lesson. Troubled by YEUNG’s custody, MC is rather emotional, so much so that he kisses SARAH by force. HENRY happens to see this and he pushes MC away. HENRY has left his keys in the office. HENRY also feels guilty for not reading and responding to HONG’s e-mails. SARAH is a bit surprised to learn that FRANCES is selling EDMOND’s car to MC. FRANCES explains that she has decided to deal with EDMOND’s things after going to psychological therapy. HENRY and MC learn that PAUL is having an appointment with PHOEBE. She entrusts HONG, a paralyzed patient who has just been referred from a sanatorium, to SARAH. FRANCES is well adapted to her new job as a pathologist. TY asks HENRY to do him a favor by asking BETSY to go home. HENRY, however, thinks it is more important to help BETSY stand up again. BETSY vents her anger on ANGUS. DEREK scolds her for neglecting ANGUS’ feelings. CHRIS and his colleagues have won the lottery. He is so excited that he rushes to tell HENRY and takes ANSON to shop for baby products. This reminds BETSY of something in the past. YEUNG comes to MC’s office and finds that the door is locked. He knocks at the window violently, but MC remains motionless. YEUNG gets into a panic. MC, who has been asleep, has finally woken up. He is thrilled that YEUNG cares so much about him and is willing to speak to him now. BETSY tells HENRY about her family and the reason why she is so disgusted about MAN. HENRY comforts her. LAM, CHRIS’ elder sister, finds CHRIS’ recent behavior odd. She tells ANSON to pay more attention to him. ANSON finds out that CHRIS is planning to have a ligation.… ...

BETSY goes to do voluntary work with HENRY and has completely forgotten that she should be playing squash with ANUGS. DEREK is annoyed. BETSY is unhappy to see MAN at the home for the aged. FRANCES meets PAUL in the bowling alley. They have a “competition” to see which of them suffers from more serious insomnia. PAUL takes FRANCES to see the sunrise so as to cheer her up. She falls asleep, with her head rested on his shoulder, in the car. UNCLE HO has a fight with MAN. The doctor finds that MAN is mentally unsound. TSUI SEE HANG, a good friend of TY’s, has come to Hong Kong to work as the Hospital Guest Advisor.… ...

SUM goes to the hospital, claiming that he has had a fight with his wife. FRANCES is suspicious about what he says after checking his injuries and taking his and his wife’s body tissue. She has also found a white hair on EDMOND’s head. She suspects that it belongs to the murderer. FRANCES learns from ANSON that SUM’s wife is two month pregnant. Coupled with the chemical substance found on the white hair, FRANCES is sure that SUM is the murder. Unfortunately, the body tissue has already been damaged. FRANCES guesses that KAU may have witnessed the incident and plans to go see him. Yet before she can do so, KAU has been knocked down by a car when he is running away from the police. FRANCES notices that KAU has responded to what she says. It is sad that he dies eventually. PAUL sees FRANCES standing at the rooftop. She tells him how she feels, and he, using his own experience, comforts her.… ...

SARAH looks at HENRY in a different light when she hears other praising his care for his ex-girlfriend and when she knows that he does voluntary work for a home for the aged. HENRY slips at the old people’s home. UNCLE HO, who lives there, laughs at him and everybody starts to laugh at him, too. EDMOND learns that KIT has been ill and absent from work for a week. He goes to visit KIT, only to discover that he is playing with his bad companions. EDMOND flies into a fit of rage. He takes KIT to work the next day. KIT hits SUM, his boss, without a cause. EDMOND knows only then that SUM has harassed KIT. EDMOND blames himself for not taking good care of KIT. FRANCES also feels guilty to have overlooked KIT’s unusual behavior. SUM tries to persuade KIT into not suing him with money. KIT is provoked by this. EDMOND drives SUM away in anger. EDMOND plans to take KIT home so that he can take better care of him.… ...

MC has just had an operation. SARAH takes care of YEUNG for him, but the boy gives her the cold shoulder. ANSON is such a workaholic that she cuts short her honeymoon for work. EDMOND sees KIT being extorted money by his two injurious friends, TAI KAU and SAI DIN, and goes to his help. EDMOND and KIT go to a bar, where PAUL says that he can find KIT a job. BETSY is interested in HENRY’s love life. SARAH tells FRANCES how she appreciates EDMOND for he takes care of his late friend’s younger brother. She mentions HENRY’s name in her conversation and arouses FRANCES’ suspicion. MC is discharged from hospital. He keeps his promise and takes YEUNG to the beach. HENRY has killed the frog that MC has bought for YEUNG for school by accident. SARAH gives MC FRANCES’ pet as a replacement. KIT is very excited and shows EDMOND and FRANCES the gift that his employer has given him. EDMOND and FRANCES are happy for him, too.… ...

SARAH, who sees this, mistakes that the two have gone back to each other. CHEUNG KA KIT, who is mentally ill, is sent to hospital for cough syrup overdose. The doctor believes that someone has forced him to take the syrup. EDMOND, his guardian, reprimands KIT for messing around with bad guys. ALAN takes HO to see PAUL. HO is surprised when PAUL tells him that it is YIN who has arranged the appointment. YEUNG has gone missing.… ...

KWONG witnesses a motorcycle accident and goes up to help. PAUL, who is still on leave, is called back to hospital for an operation. Still lacks confidence in himself, he asks ANGUS to perform the operation. The driver of the motor is guilty about his girlfriend’s injury. KWONG gives him a few words of consolations with his own experience. ANSON tries to investigate the medical history of VIVIAN but fails. GRACE comes to know that BOSCO is dating ANSON. She tells CHRIS in no time; CHRIS feels uneasy about this. BOSCO wants to start over with ANSON, who gives him a severe lesson instead. Without his asking it, ANSON tells CHRIS about BOSCO and wins his trust. YEUNG misses his grandma. He gives MC the cold shoulder. PHOEBE comes to the hospital to invite PAUL for an interview. BRYAN blames PAUL for this. GRACE is embarrassed that a good friend of hers, SO ON SIN SUSANNA, collects name cards from single doctors on behalf of her. BOSCO, ANSON’s ex-boyfriend who has just been divorced, asks ANSON out. He kisses her goodbye after the appointment, the situation of which is witnessed by GRACE. By using the poker game that he has learnt, he tells FRANCES not to blame herself for disclosing YIN’s life before she died. ANSON suspects that Mrs. HUNG suffers from prenatal depression. An idea occurs to her when she knows that Mrs. Hung is a loyal reader of HENRY, who has a column on a paper. MC expresses to TY his difficulty in communicating with YEUNG. While TY gives him a few words of consolation, he himself has also learnt something. TY mistakes that HENRY is going out with BETSY. HENRY tells BETSY to explain to TY. She thanks him for bringing a breakthrough to the frozen father-and-daughter relationship. An old classmate of Doctor LIU MEI KUEN KAREN’s is blackmailed by her patient, who is a drug addict. KAREN goes and advices her to report the case to the police. KAREN bumps into MAN there and finds his behavior weird.… ...

FRANCES deduces that HENRY was trying to do something foolish when she called. She is even more worried when she sees that PAUL has become bad-tempered. YEUNG shows allergic reaction. As he refuses to speak, MC tells him to list out things that may cause the allergy. BETSY is queried whether she has check her patient’s medical history before she treated him. HENRY vouches for her innocence, yet she still receives a warning. LING is sent to a lunatic asylum pending a sentence. KWONG does not blame her for harming their son, as he knows that she was under the effect of her illness. FRANCES notices that PAUL is emotionally unstable. With her own experience, she advises him to seek medical treatment. He, however, does not appreciate her concern. PAUL has gone missing.… ...

MC goes back to Yan Oi Hospital to work. A patient, Grandma HUNG, wants to go home so that she can take care of her old companion, Uncle LUK, who suffers from senile dementia. She demands to be discharged. MC therefore contacts the social worker attached to the hospital. CHRIS listens to the advice of his female colleagues and proposes to ANSON, only to be told that he is not mature enough to get married yet. PHOEBE says that it is selfish for MC to give up his clinic. He retorts with her scandals. LUK has gone missing. HUNG looks everywhere for him. This has enlightened CHRIS and ANSON and they decide to marry each other. MC cannot stand PHOEBE’s scandals anymore and decides to split with her. MC’s mother visits him, who sends her home with the excuse that he is busy. MC fails to attend the appointment with his mother because he is handling some financial matters with PHOEBE.… ...

FRANCES finds on a dead body some ointment which does not belong to the deceased. CHIU, the suspect, does not have any record of skin disease either. A man named KAM HO MAN is rushed to the A & E. BETSY suspects that the man is abusing pubic resources. On seeing this, HENRY leads BETSY into telling him her story about the scar on her wrist. He further tells her that she should know better now about the duty of a doctor. MAN yells and demands to leave, yet he changes his mind as soon as he sees BETSY. CHRIS tries to avoid GRACE but only makes the matter worse. What is more, he has upset ANSON for covering things up. MAN goes to see BETSY. As a matter of fact, they know each other already. MAN sneaks out of the hospital. Exhausted, ANGUS collapses. DEREK hits PAUL, insisting that he is the one to be responsible for ANGUS’ blacking out. PAUL tells HENRY why DEREK is hostile to him. He also invites HENRY to visit Europe with him.… ...

BETSY thanks HENRY for teaching her and for his patience as well. HENRY notices the scars her wrist. CHRIS asks ANSON out but she cannot make it. Hearing their conversation, GRACE makes up an excuse and asks CHRIS to send her home. She also takes photos of CHRIS being with her in the same car. ANSON has discovered the photos. CHRIS tries hard to explain. As a result, he is given a verbal warning by ANSON for covering this up. MC tells EDMOND off for failing to persuade a patient of his to testify in court. MC, who is troubled by his business downfall, acts rather rudely towards his mother. YEUNG complains that MC does not care about grandmother. HENRY witnesses a patient of his, who has made several suicidal attempts in the past, jumps down from the top floor of the hospital. The patient dies eventually. HENRY is really upset about this, yet BETSY shows no sympathy at all. HENRY wonders why she would have such response.… ...

DEREK feels that other people do not show respect to his professional opinion. He vents his anger on PAUL. PAUL has to stay for more observation and treatment. He lists out all his symptoms and gives it to ANGUS with his brain scan result for research. PAUL goes for physiotherapy. It happens that DEREK is the therapist in charge and PAUL finds his attitude towards him strange. Confident that her being younger than ANSON is an advantage, GRACE decides to take away CHRIS from ANSON. HENRY has hurt his backbone. CHRIS tells his elder sister, CHUNG LAM, to give him a massage. Nevertheless, she hurts his neck bone. It further annoys him that SARAH and others have mistaken that he has visited some immoral places. EDMOND has been rather stressed out handling MC’s lawsuit. A patient of SARAH’s requests her to fill in false medical information for him so that he can apply for disability pension. SARAH refuses to do so.… ...

A woman, whose name is AH LING, takes her son to the A & E room. HENRY later knows that her husband is none other than HO TAK KWONG, an old friend of his. KWONG shows his concern for PAUL. As a token of gratitude, GRACE invites CHRIS, who has saved her life, to a dinner. To her disappointment, CHRIS brings ANSON along. He asks GRACE, whose family runs a furniture shop, for discounts. In order to pry into their lives, she grasps the opportunity to visit their place. ANSON sees through her intention. Fearing that his performance will be affected, MC refuses to undergo an operation. His relationships with YEUNG and PHOEBE respectively have been affected inversely as he tries to cover up his pain. The hospital has received complaints against PAUL. TY talks to PAUL about this and accepts his explanation. He also accepts PAUL’s request for taking a long leave. PAUL has been suffering from insomnia recently.… ...

PAUL takes HENRY to see the old horse that he keeps. He tells HENRY why he bought it; HENRY can understand how he feels. GRACE is eager to find a man whom she can marry. CHRIS is her target. BETSY fails to keep a watchful eye on a girl, who is suspected to have been ill-treated, as told by HENRY. As a result, she is given a good telling-off. MC has lost many patients because of the lawsuit. MC mistakes that YEUNG has stolen PHOEBE’s computer and sold it. He apologizes to YEUNG when he learns about the truth. After carrying out a post-mortem, FRANCES comes to the conclusion that the statement given by the suspect of the family tragedy is not trustful. The suspect loses his control as soon as he hears this. He stops PAUL and others from rescuing his daughter and gets hold of GRACE. CHRIS is nearly killed when he is fighting with the man. Unfortunately, the girl dies. PAUL flies in to a rage and hits the man.… ...

A & E (Accident & Emergency) consultant, LAI KWOK CHU HENRY, invites PAUL to her girlfriend, JAN’s, birthday party. HENRY knows then that PAUL is still in contact with his ex-girlfriend, HO SUM YIN. PAUL suspects that a female patient has contracted SARS.
