BloodOfTheEnemy
Part of the problem, I suppose is that both Smallville and the Christopher Reeve era Superman stories painted Krypton as a high and mysterious civilization far removed from our own. Coming from that, a viewer hopes a show called "Krypton" will transport you to a very different world from ours. But instead, this Krypton feels a lot like Earth. They have bars and drinking and gambling. Their weapons look like ours. They swear like us. They even have a guy wander in off the streets from Detroit. The show doesn't really transport you to another time, either, as you would imagine in a story about Superman's ancestors. Thanks to the writers' injudicious use of time travel, elements from present-day Superman interact freely with his grandfather. I read somewhere that the showrunners weren't intending this to be a prequel. Well, this isn't, and that's too bad, because I think the truly interesting story possibilities lay in that.I give this a 6 because the backdrop of the upper city of Kandor was well done visually. Also, the concept of the House of El as a disgraced, almost extinct family, was pretty interesting, even though not much is done with that after episode 1.

I have just binge watched the first 10 episodes (Season 1). As a big fan of SciFi in all its forms it was an interesting take on a Legend i grew up with from the late Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, Brandon Routh & now Henry Cavill. To take up a story that pre dates this Legend of a character was a brave creation indeed. There are the die hard fans who have slated this in its Plot, Characters & acting, they are as entitled as anyone else to their opinion. Well here is mine!Well done, you have taken something that had a singular perspective, "Superman saves the world" & made it that MANY people save the world, there are twists & turns all the way through it to keep you itching for the next episode. You have shown what Krypton was like in your perspective, unlike the films which spent a max of 3 minutes explaining and showing the planet dying, we get to see the depth of what its government stoops to, not much unlike our own lol. The main plot being that Braniac is coming, a character any DC fan knows has always lurked in the back ground and now has his very own story. The acting was actually very well done, each character fitted their part well, the surprise appearance of General Zod did throw me a curve ball trying to figure out how that came about, and the only thing i did feel was not the best plot twist & stolen right from Star Wars is that the main character Seg El is Zod's Father & originally from the house of El, that is about the only thing i think they could have maybe not included into this well done series. Maybe Zod could have just travelled back in time to achieve his goal rather than throwing in that bit of a daft twist so much like Luke & Darth Vader. The CGI & effects are well done & i hope that the 2nd season gets the go ahead.Remember this, its a programme, its not factual, its a take/an angle on someone's perspective on how they saw Krypton before Superman was even born.Love it or Hate it, or be in-between, but if you have any love for SciFi then i suggest you struggle through or thoroughly enjoy the 1st season.Lastly, the ending was a little surprising but could be predicted from episode 7, at least it gives a beginning to the next season & the hope the next season has much the same as the 1st..

This show strays so far from the original comic book story that it is not even recognizable.1) The S on Superman's uniform was the idea of Ma Kent to symbolize Superman, it was not an ancient Kryptonian symbol. The house of El had a Sun as it's symbol. Drawings of Jor-El, Superman's father show a sun emblazoned on chest of his clothes.2) The Fortress of Solitude was Superman's creation on Earth as a place to get away from everything so he could unwind. That is why it was called the Fortress of SOLITUDE! It was not something that his grandfather built on Krypton.3) Kandor was taken by Brainiac just before Krypton exploded, it's removal did not cause Krypton to explode. In addition the writers have once again interjected their left wing politics into the story as they preach their radical revisionist propaganda.1) The Zod family has miraculously become black.2) A five foot nothing, 120 pound woman overpowers and nearly kills a 6 foot 4-1/2 inch 200+ pound man.3) We get the usual sermonizing about the evil military savaging the poor innocent population of the city.A terrible show that could have been great, except that todays writers are incapable of writing decent shows.

Love this show. So tired of people trashing shows that other people like. If you don't like just don't watch it. Let other viewers enjoy
