imdb-35-647461 This is one of the series i liked the most. It is profound, comprehensive, extraordinary, unpredictable and the acting is super. The variation in the character cast is magnificent . The authentic roll play sublime. It is one of the examples why I highly admire the British series. It could be well a real life example of ordinary people with all their usual daily problems and emotions. Nicola is my best favorite actress, I have seen her in River too. But nothing less to all the other actors without exception they are all of a very high class.I (me Dutch) have learned a lot from the slang that used in the series. Although English subtitles are highly appreciated for me. I can't wait for the next series to come out.
imdb-11512 The first two episodes are a lovely story about an old couple who are reunited after half a century apart and decide to marry. This was ace, with one problem, explained below. In episode three it turns into a soap opera about their dysfunctional families, with implausible plot lines. If you like soap operas then probably you will think the whole thing is just great but if you are looking for something exceptional then stop after the second episode and pretend it was a two part film. The problem with the old couple was that the character of Alan is rather pathetic. He has no self confidence and rarely takes control of a situation when he is with his wife to be. He actually seems rather more feminine than his fiancée and it is difficult to believe that she would find him attractive.
yezziqa I completely fell in love with this series. This was real people with faults and skeletons in the closet just like the rest of us, not that perfect sugar coated s**t produced by "Hollywood" (Hey guys, we aren't all 20 years old throughout life, beautiful and wakes up with perfect makeup everyday). The writers really thought things through. Every time the storyline takes a twist it either seems like it will be the end of the world or as it is the best thing to ever happen, but then the negative sides start to appear in the perfect facade or new possibilities emerge from the devastating news. Because that is what happens in real life. I'm looking forward to season 4, and I am hoping that there will be a lot more of them.
David Land I've never seen a program with such frequent and sudden plot changes! The acting is most excellent however, I must say! Even in the very first episode, the actors seemed they had been playing the roles for years almost. Am I the only one who notices the sudden plot developments? I really would prefer to be able to savor the characters more if it slowed down just a few kilometers per hour. The players are most excellent and, even at the break-neck speed the plots are going, the characters are very believable, even likable. I suppose the pace has been set and will be maintained in this series. The one obvious theme in all this is that no one is to be trusted with any new information for more than five minutes. It does seem to be driving the plot along, however. I will keep watching this series as long as it is offered. The writers will be constantly challenged to keep this pace I do believe.
