Reviews

mikeyoung00 This is a very well written series in so many ways. For me, the strongest aspect of the writing is the development of the characters over time and the way almost every significant character is a complex blend of good and not-so-good. The series covers some pretty tough and sometimes controversial territory. One Mississippi certainly isn't for everybody. But I think many will be taken in by its charm, wit, and emotional depth. Not liking it doesn't make you an idiot and loving it doesn't make you a raving liberal. The viewer's reaction is likely based more on personal history and taste in story telling than it is in their politics. This isn't the best thing I've seen on Prime but I certainly liked it a lot and I am among those hoping for a third season. I am a little disappointed to learn that it isn't actually filmed here in Mississippi/ (Well, the "Welcome" sign in the opening is, but...)
idiotboy707 This is a lovely little show with some wonderful and restrained performances, especially by the actor playing Tig's stepfather. I am seriously bummed by its cancellation.
TequilaMockingbird63 Have you seen ONE MISSISSIPPI? I binged watched the entire season one last night and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it. Inspired by comedian Tig Notaro's life it's a smart, intermittently hilarious, well-written comedy (dramedy) that's occasionally a downer with intervals of great deadpan jokes. The show has everything! death, cancer, intestinal disease and a missing cat. I'm a Tig fan and great to see Shira Piven directed episode 6 of season one. Also, the executive producer is Louis C.K.I can't wait for season Two!
Lesley J Morris Like most, I was looking for something to escape the everyday, I found it in One Mississippi. The realism is very intriguing, but more so is the ease of how each episode comes across. Writing and making it work on film is a talent, and there's lots of talent here. I had not heard of Tig Notaro before, I had no expectations. I wasn't hooked at first, but that soon changed. Notaro is true to herself, while portraying the angst of human nature, dealing with a haunting past and walking into an uncertain future, she brings it full circle in this dynamic and funny series. I applaud Amazon for taking this series up, and hope it continues, because I will continue to watch!
