Reviews

simmosped First off let me put it out there that I haven't ever posted a review and I am not a writer in any sense of the word, but I hated this show so much that I needed some way to vent my frustration. With that in mind here is my first review. Imagine a world where every single person is a submissive dog and no one ever fights to preserve anything they believe in and don't even believe in any sort of moral code or life goal in the first place. That is the world of Psycho-pass. To be fair there are a couple characters who aren't like this in the show and they are the main enemies but it seems as though they don't even know what they want just like the rest of the population if this pitiful planet. With character flaws like this you cannot relate to anyone in the show. They are either a mindless drone who follows an unfathomably flawed system comparable to and even less explained government system of the Purge or they are a murderer who understands the terrible and unfair system and it incompetence who kill people while spouting off about ideals that condone the actions they are currently taking part in.Lets explore this government system I have brought up though. A computer reads your mental state and says if you should die, go to jai,l or live. That is the dumbed down explanation to be short with it. This mental state can be effected by literally ANYTHING! If you're having a stressful day you could get arrested and if you are particularly angry or even scared you could get shot down by the cops with out a thought. For example there is a lady who gets raped and beaten in the show and she almost gets killed by a cop for that exact reason. In another example there is a hostage situation at one point in the show. The hostages get released and start running in fear of the killer and the police gun them down. To make matters worse for the system people like sociopaths, and the like, who can't feel mental distress can go kill people in front of cops and the cops can't do anything about it.Now that we understand the system and how it works it's time to explain why, why would anyone want this system. The people of this universe were pitched the idea untested I would presume unknowing of all the flaws and how the system actually works and they just said, "ok." It's a fun concept and the conflict of the show is based around the police trying to fix these awful problems and I guess they are essentially trying to fight the government but it also doesn't seem like they mind how bad it is. Even after finding out how the whole thing works the main character just seems to brush it off albeit very annoyed. In this discovery a couple question are answered but many more rise such as how it all came to pass. The creator of this show had a fun idea but no clue on how to answer the "how" portion of all of it and just decided to say, "The system is corrupt and that is how and why." This concept is just like the Purge, fun but unexplained and extremely unbelievable even for an anime. That is why this show is so awful too many questions very few answers and a lot of bad taste in your mouth. 0 star.P.S. please don't hate me if you like the show that's cool.
SomeoneUKnow The anime criticizes and shows off how a security system who also takes the most difficult decisions for people can be detrimental for several reasons, from it's judgment to being very comforting. If you like things that make you think about how a society works and behave in a group, watch it !!
Vitalii To what extend could be moral an automatic system that completely controls the society and moreover can measure a level of susceptibility to crime of the whole population? Does such kind of system act in population's best interest or are people just slaves of the system? What are people worth when they aren't used to analyze and rely blindly on the system? If there was an ideal system that judges people, would it be also allowed to judge that system?Tsunemori Akane, an officer of the Criminal Investigation Department, searches answers for these questions in the near future. From a young specialist that takes on trust every decision of the system, she turns in a professional with an ability to analyze critical situations and make extraordinary decisions. She walks a fine line between trust in the system and necessity of changes, between own belief and fulfilling official duties…Great anime with colorful characters and story. It is a pleasure to watch how characters evolve and change their world-view. Worth watching!
Catwings "Ghost In The Shell," "Innocence," or "Blade Runner" fans, those who seek thought-provoking realities into a story, or people who like watching stories that make you think about technology and humanity. Then, you may also like to watch "Psycho-Pass."Technological advancement and lack of humanity is an open question all- time throughout the history. While we are seeking to enrich our lives by using gadgets and machines, we may lose something important as human beings. What if we are born in a safe society where criminals and even potential criminals are managed and isolated from the society in order not to harm other good citizens, and they are guaranteed to live in the society with given happiness. We may not even have questions about morality. In the story, a person's mental state is simultaneously measured, and the value is determined whether the person is potentially a criminal and is killed depending on the state level. The police officers use a gun, but the gun is only fired if the targeting person's mental state is measured as dangerous, seemingly it also helps them avoid shooting the wrong person. Akane Tsunemori is a novice officer who is in charge of solving crimes with other members. One of the things that astonishes me is the dialogues where characters talk, referring to quotes from famous authors such as Philip K. Dick, George Orwell, Gulliver Travels, Wiliam Gibson, Macbeth, Humlet, etc. The lines that characters speak casts philosophical questions as to what is justice and what is an ideal society.I really like the story in which it depicts a different aspect of the technological world from Ghost In the Shell or Blade Runner, yet somehow it reminds me of those epic anime and films.
