hthbrr2 Warning spoilers!Yikes! Why was this even made? I mean this is a remake of a British TV show. So the language is in English, why the remake? Oh right, greed.Kids, no matter what country they grow up in, basically have the same problems in life. So it boggles the mind as to why this was even remade as the US and UK are fairly similar places to grow up.Anyways they just censored the nudity in the US version and replaced all the actors with pretty faced wanna be actors. That's the problem with American entertainment, we take flash over substance. Like most "actors" these days CAN'T EVEN ACT! Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Lilly Collins, Miley Cryus, Emma Watson. These people are famous because of their good looks, nepotism, or stupid fan base. The days of the great child actors are GONE! THIS horrid show is proof! They don't even TRY and act, all you see are blank stares most of the time.Where as the original skins was ground breaking, and won many awards while propelling their young actors into fame and fortune. This remake was just fodder for parent groups bashing it as filth. And they are right! This remade version lost the soul the UK version had. It's all just for shock value. "Look at kids having sex" "Look at kids doing drugs" "Look at kids sleeping with their teachers." But it had none of the intelligence the original had. These shocking things happened in order to make some kind of point. But in the US version it was done JUST to shock. No moral lesson exists.Avoid this $#!tty remake.
Quantanamo Bay I myself have watched the US version of skins before going to the UK version and i must say both version are really good. Yes, maybe the US version is more censored but i do think it is also adapted to the youth of North America. I felt a stronger connection with the characters of the US version than the UK, and guess what maybe i was biased too by watching one before the other. My point being that the US version is still a really good show and should not be downgraded because some people saw the UK version first and got more connected with those characters. Finally i am sad that the US version is over because i liked the way it was becoming towards the end.p.s. English not being my first language some mistake might of slipped in.
siccors333 This is the best show ever. Much better than the UK Skins. The American adaption is always the best and will be the best. At first, I was just like "What is this crap!" But then, I kept watching and I was amazed and how awesome it is. The actors the script, the lot, the dialog, the storyline, the scenes, the ideas, ITS JUST GREAT. My favorite episode is "Tina", and I cannot wait for the episode "Eura" Anyway, I recommend this show for people who want to see a much hardcore Degrassi, or if you like teenage dramas, you should watch it. Its perfect in every way. Anyway, I give this 10/10. Best show I've seen in my life. This makes the British version look like crap, Tina's episode is the best. My favorite character is Tina. My other favorite character is Chris. Anyway, I recommend this for everyone. Give it a shot, its interesting.
n-rieck I have only viewed 4 episodes but I can't stop watching. It might be because non-professional actors make this program appear to be so much like real life. Every one of the characters represents someone in my own teenage years. Back then there were a few jocks, a few space-cadets, and a few girls with questionable morals, with all the rest of us just being carried along in the wake of their actions. We all thought we were so damned smart, and that adults were so so weird, or stupid, or socially inept. (in reality we weren't so smart and the adults weren't so stupid) "Skins" appears to be written from the perspective of these teens. Most appear to be working through their problems while the adults behave badly and are not working through theirs. And where did the program name come from? In the first episode the name "Skins" is mentioned in a reference to rolling paper.
