The Angry Video Game Nerd is an adult web television series of comedic retrogaming video reviews created by and starring James Rolfe. The show's format revolves around his commentary and review of older, but unsuccessful video games which are deemed to be of particularly low-quality, unfair difficulty or poor design. The series began as a feature on YouTube and later became a program on ScrewAttack Entertainment before moving to GameTrailers exclusively. The show was renamed The Angry Video Game Nerd to prevent any trademark issues with Nintendo and due to the fact he started reviewing games from non-Nintendo consoles such as those made by Atari and Sega. Rolfe's character, "The Nerd" is a short-tempered and foul-mouthed video game fanatic. He derives comic appeal from excessive and inventive use of anger, profanity, and habitual consumption of alcohol while reviewing video games.

Colby H. When I came across this web-series for the first time, I couldn't stop watching it. Filmmaker James Rolfe is very talented when it comes to writing reviews and comedy sketches. In this show, he combines both of them and makes extremely well written video game reviews. These games are mostly from the 70s, 80s and 90s. This appeals to me and it gives the show a nice, retro vibe. It is clever how all the episodes intertwine with each other. And above all, IT'S SO FUNNY!!! I can't think of an episode where I didn't laugh. He takes the bad elements of the video games and pokes fun at them and rants about them in ways that make you laugh and also think "That's a good point. This game does suck." Never before have I seen a web-series do this. Over all, The Angry Video Game Nerd is one of my top two favorite series's on YouTube. Perfection!
hollispierman The AVGN (the common abbreviation for Angry Video Game Nerd) is one of my favorite web series out there, if not at all! This stuff is HILARIOUS! Being a long time fan of the series, when I first saw my first AVGN video in 2008, which was I believe to be The Power Glove for the NES, I was literally pooping my pants full of "fudge". It was so funny that I just watched more, until today.J.R. (as I'll call him) has and will always be my favorite actor, and I'm glad to hear of the release of his new movie! Mike Matei, one of his best friends, is a great actor too, and is hysterical in every aspect, especially in the way that he acts near and far from the Nerd.I wish all of the best of luck to J.R. and Mike as they finish up with the movie!
jasper102011 Jasper102011 here to review AVGN show My favourite web show ever staring James the nerd, the show is basically about him reviewing older games instead of newer ones.I like the swearing and the the humour is on a whole new level. The theme song is very catchy gives you a smile on your face. He's even making a movie! He shows his wasted childhood playing these shitty games and shows everyone the nightmares of these life-changing games.over-all, you have to check the nerd out, THE ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD!
