Joe Territo At first glance, 'The Rebels' is a rehash of the old 'First and Ten" show from HBO. But so what? Hollywood has been, and still does, produce movies that are remakes. A lot of us don't even realize that they are remakes. And not surprisingly, or maybe it is, these revisits have done very well at the box office historically. Now if it works for the movies, why can't it work for television? 'The Rebels' proves it can. I loved this episode. It was well written, well directed and well cast. I have a minor issue with the character of the owner's son, Chris. His character is pretty flat. You could take any thirteen year old kid and stick them in the role. The creators did an outstanding job fleshing out the rest of the characters. There is only so much character development you can accomplish in one, short episode. They put their efforts in the right places. The most important things are that the show is entertaining and funny. This is a very well done show and deserves a look.
jhk12007 This was a great effort by the casting person of good actors in the roles. Unfortunately, the storyline and jokes just aren't funny . Too many stereotypes and old tired gags. Contains a bad main title song and equally average end title. Talented people working on something you would easily switch . "This show ain't gonna win no prizes" at least not in my opinion. Judge for yourself on Amazon Prime maybe I'm wrong but I don't think so. I am not going to tell you the story because it's in the plot and everything you would think happens actually does. Suffice it to say that nothing original or unique occurs in the half hour that hasn't happened before. No one actor shines or stands out except the use of the occasional profanity.
Michelle Rivera The was a great first episode and kept my interest the entire time. I definitely want to see more!!! It is not often that I like the first episode of a show. However, this pilot was funny and seems like it will be a great series. Football is a huge American sport and a show like this will attract a lot of watchers. It's a unique show and something different from what's typically out there. I am also interested in seeing or getting a glimpse of what happens outside of the field. Love it please keep it! Great story line, I am looking forward to see how things turn out. I want to get into a new show and this is it!! I will be watching this first episode again for laughs!
lotus_j I really expected this show to be dumb. I gave it a chance though, and was shockingly surprised. The jokes were hits more than misses and it makes you wonder what a series would be like. I for one want to see it. The team is crazy, the owner is obviously a fish out of water who has little knowledge of football. The GM is young, but knows football, he kind of has every fan's dream job. The rookie QB is obviously a jerk. The old wise QB has everything but a championship ring. The WR is just flat out crazy. Yes, they're all clichés. It says something when a show can overcome the clichés and still have you wanting more. The after credits scene with the monkey was worth watching the credits for.
