Transformers is one of my favorite cartoons of all time taking place in 1984-1986. It revolved around a great war between the Autobots and Decepticons. The Autobots (protagonists) were led by Optimus Prime. The Decepticons (antagonists) were led by the power hungry Megatron. At points I actually found myself very invested in the plot line such as when Optimus Prime Died and gave the matrix of leadership to Ultra Magnus, I had found myself shocked whenever Galvatron (Unicron empowered Megatron) had taken it from Ultra Magus in the movie only to Have it stolen By Hotshot who became Rodimus Prime. Sudden plot twists like this on the edge of your seat and you thought about what had happened until the next episode.

I compare the dimensions of my liking this cartoon at the level of original Star Trek; am a rabid Trekker. It's taken me over a year attempting writing a review on & off. Every time would stop feeling I'd go over the top in expressing its excellence--strictly am referring to the above summary. My favoring Transformers creeps past Jonny Quest & Herculoids for its cast of Characters. My 20 something sisters & I (neither of us having kids at the time) stopped our preparing to leave for that half hour during its initial run. Faster than any show at that time we tossed aside its just a longer advertisement for a toy line. Indeed we forgot about toys, except in my case. Big time I wanted an Autobot who'll promise mentioning briefly...I'll try. Oh wait, recall him saying "I'll try" a couple times. I fell in cartoon love with this character, have never fallen out.I was surprised on resuming watching these episodes shortly prior to 2007 Bayfest how vividly I recalled an episode's details. Both seasons' main appeal remains the interweaving of comedy via clever, very frequent name calling & snappy come backs. Although in large part taken from other literature episodes had a fresh slant. V/A cast rate a ten; first ever show I wanted to learn all their names.Sadly original G1's unedited content wouldn't air on a broadcast channel failing passing today's media watchdogs set upon toning down violence in children's shows. Demands for censorship: Guns appearing & used, often than not at the always fleeing humans. My favorite bad guy Soundwave brandishing any gun would've scared me if I had been 18 years younger. Occasionally somebody, yeah really, uttered the word "dead. Megatron v. Optimus Prime were no holds barred slobber knockers, especially G1's 1st year. Megatron & Starscream's perpetual power play has Megatron making the upstart his punching bag/shooting target--butchered, toned down.Autobot goings on was more genteel of course but not with out hotheads, egotists, whiners, music lovers, a name calling virtuoso, their leader once in a great while loosing his temper, plans against the enemy went awry.Transformers 3rd year remains in my top 10 of worse cartoons ever. The state of the series went down sewer awry. I'm passionate in my hating it. Humor gone, took itself too seriously, leaders, wussy good & mad bad bot, broken zippers, for brains once put onto small screen...Won't go any further than to say nothing could help season 3 besides not producing it at all. That sour tripe lowers my overall rating of the series to 8.

Transformers. What is it if not great? This is a show that makes me think how much time it would take to make one of these, with all the complicated designs and transformation sequences.Hard and time consuming, but they succeeded. This is probably the most complicated TV show ever. But all though it pushes the animation capabilities of the time and pushed it to their limit, but never lost sight of the dramatic element. These plots are very well thought out and has a great deal of character development and action packed fun.Another thing,THE greatest voice cast assemble EVER!!!No voice is lacking. They all have a distinct and powerful performance.

Along with "G.I. Joe", this was my one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. It deals with Optimus Prime and his Autobots in their never-ending battle with the evil Decepticons. Yes, the show was a commercial for the unending line of toys, trading cards, and other merchandise, but it was the best commercial EVER in my mind. The adventures were thrilling and I couldn't wait to watch it every day. The show was greatness personified until after the movie. Everything that came afterwords only tainted the memory more and more. Armada being the pinnacle of ass. However watching anything before the movie still remains pure gold and instantly takes me back to my wonderful childhood in the glorious '80's.My Grade: A
