grantss Set in modern times, vampires roam the earth and are humans mortal enemies. However, a substitute has been found for human blood, a substitute that vampires can consume with the same effect as human blood. This is True Blood. Now humans and vampires can coexist in harmony, and even form relationships. But there will always be rogue elements on both sides ready to exploit the uneasy truce. Superb, for the first few seasons. Original, uncompromising and highly engaging. Great character depth, clever, intriguing plots, interesting relationships and good performances. For 5 seasons this was fantastic. However, the producers didn't know when to quit. The writing was already starting to feel a bit jaded, with retreads of previous plots and characters and, especially, different life-forms being introduced just to give the illusion of originality. The final two seasons were mediocre, at best. The final season, Season 7, was particularly bad. No originality and the writers and actors seemed to be just going through the motions. Watching became a chore, something I had to do so I could finish the series rather than watching because I enjoyed it. Season 7 may well be the worst final season in the history of TV, especially when compared with what came before.
Patrick Jordan Dondiego Too bad it was cut early but I think it's for the show's own good especially when they massacre it on the last 2 seasons. True Blood has so much potential when it started. Sookie was so beautiful. Bill was mysterious. Eric was awesome. The first season was all about the introduction of mainstream vampires and Sookie's mind reading ability. It was exciting. The second season took all of them to the next level while adding some weird characters. The Godric (2,000 years old) was my favorite. Third season offered a more powerful vampire in the name of Russell Edgington (3,000 years old). The season where you see a deep look on the characters and the first major breakup. Season 4 introduced a fresh look for everyone especially Bill the King. And then when Season 5 ended, I thought that the next seasons would be so much better but I was disappointed. Warlow? (A 5,000 year old, immune to sunlight, and have fae magic but a psycho) He could have been the king of the world with that overpowered ability but no, he was obsessed with Sookie's charm. The last season was just a formality, a speculation on how it will end. Bill's death was awesome, Eric Northman being on top of the world again is the best and it don't matter what happened to Sookie.True Blood could have been great. But still I loved the show.
kamel121 I've been a fan since the second I watched this show. It's an outstanding series full of dry humour, unique yet traditional drama and a whole bunch of certainly not twilight theme. I love the story. Not a huge fan of the protagonist but hey, every other character makes up for it. Here you have a show that exceeds every aspect of a life with vampires. The lead idea of the show is vampire but they bring in werewolves, shape shifters and many others including fairies which no other show I have seen has brought to television . I've seen fans say it has fallen through but I don't believe it has . It's gotten more unique. I love that vampires are known, the synthetic blood, the tainted vamps, the religious red neck town, and Fangtasia . Beautiful . Every time I finish an episode I'm so excited I have to watch the rest. This show is pure genius thrown in with the occasional bad acting but once again, so many things make up for it. You got the blonde bombshell protagonist with multiple love problems, the hot womanizer who's an idiot, the gay black guy, the emotional vampire, the mysterious vampire, the sweet puppy eyed boy (literally), the dumb founded sheriffs, the damaged girl with major family problems, the sarcastic mono tone vampire and so much more! I'm so upset it's over but I'm happy they still did it and kept it going . This show has never failed to please me and it never will as I rematch it in the future !
strawbeliciouss This is the best Fantasy TV Series ever. I love vampire movies/TV series, but True Blood is the best. Anyway, this show isn't for everyone! Keep in mind that it is rated as "TV-MA" (+ 17 years old), and some people could be offended by some scenes. The actors are very suitable for each role. From my opinion, first and second seasons are a little bit different than the rest of the show. They seem "old". Seasons 3/4/5 are better and 6/7 are definitely the best! Every episode makes you smile or laugh, and sometimes you may cry from some kind of "sadness". Nearly every episode has "love" scenes. Don't hesitate, watch True Blood!
