Reviews

Terryfan When V started the series really grab my attention from the get go as it did with many viewers. It looked like ABC had found a worthy SCI/Fiction show. It had a interesting mix of cast members. Elizabeth Mitchell, Joel Gretsch, Morris Chestnut, Logan Huffman, Laura Vandervoort, Morena Baccarin, Scott Wolf, Christopher Shyer, Charles MesureThe plot of the series was really good and was enough to hold your attention and the first season was such a ground breaker that really you didn't think a network like ABC could pull something like that off. However Season 2 is when it all started to fall and fall hard. I mean you know the old saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it"? they went from having a promising series to letting it get too far and it just wasn't the way the series should have went.In my opinion it was fine the way it was. I'm just really felt let down from a series that such high hopes only to be disappointed with the final results
Jacques-Kinnaer When you watch a remake of an existing movie or TV show, you can expect a certain amount of déjà-vu. Indeed, the basic premise of the remake comes from the original. In the case of the 2009 remake of V, that basic premise was that of seemingly friendly aliens who come bearing gifts only to turn out being nasty reptiles with even nastier intentions. I enjoyed the original and, truth be said, I enjoyed the remake as well. The déjà-vu experience, however, didn't stop with that. Non humans posing as humans? Sleeper agents planted among humans? A non human having to seduce a human only to actually fall into her own trap and fall in love with the human? Non humans obsessed with procreation and interbreeding? Obsessed with metaphysical/religious aspects of humans? Yes, we had all of that before in a TV show, also a remake, that did a much better job: Battlestar Galactica (2007). And I haven't even mentioned the use of drums and a musical score that could have been written by Bear McCreary, be it on one of his less inspired days. Now, I have to admit that although the V remake does rehash some parts of Battlestar Galactica, it does do so in an attempt at originality. Interspecies breeding is achieved by accident, and the aliens' need of humans for procreational needs is based on harvesting parts of their DNA. But here too, there are some flaws: humans born with and surviving large parts of their DNA missing? Nobody noticing this until the show? Taking DNA samples in a way that tortures the subject? There's only so far that "suspension of disbelief" can go, and the creators of the V remake have gone beyond that.
through-10 This series is amazing. For those who enjoys works by Lovecraft, you will certainly enjoy this. A group of characters attempt to learn the truth and try to stop the evils that lay hidden in their world. Every attempt that is made to stop a threat is thwarted and those that get too close are destroyed. If the series ends on season two, it ends with the hopelessness of humanity and the impression is left the mankind as a whole is doomed. Great story intrigue, special effects and and Scifi universe consistency. I also enjoyed the dialogue about terrorism from the perspective of average Americans fighting for their beliefs, while battling internal moral dilemmas. I definitely recommend this show.
geekgirl101 I refrained from giving 10 out of 10 as there's one thing about this entire series that bothers me - it goes on way too long.Compared to the original series yes there's a lot more going on in great detail. Aliens come to earth, they deceive and manipulate human emotions as part of their plan for an invasion, things don't just go right overnight. It's good that there's this real sense of threat, emotional manipulation, war, and a real possibility that the humans will not succeed, but I think that it just takes it so far that it's stretching out the whole series and leaves you wondering how much longer is the charade gonna go on for.I would like to see the entire series continue and see how the big finale is going to look like, but I think 4 series is too long.
