erikvanosmedia Give Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh some serious time on YouTube first, before watching. None of the episodes gives real insight into his person nor into his philosophy. Because of this, most viewers will picture him as an idiot or a charlatan and will not understand his followers. By ignoring the protagonist and his leitmotiv 'Wild, wild country' is just about rednecks and hippies. Deep in our hearts we know that it is the bad guys who win, so there is this melancholy in de the end; this strange longing to this unknown world of... The documentary also reminds me of the story of one devil alarming another devil with the news of a newborn messias who is preaching truth, freedom & love. 'We have to do something about it!' The other devil says. 'No need for that!' interrupts a third devil: 'He has followers already!'
Horror This was an very good documentary but I did have some problems with it. The people in the cult giving the interviews were never questioned on what they had done. They were just telling their story and were never questioned about the poor treatment of the locals in Antelope. The real footage was excellent and the music was also perfectly fitted. I am shocked this happened and I never knew about it. 8/10
dr-prasannashetty Beautiful documentary but leaves u with many questions in the end. I would have been happier if they had shown some of Osho's discourses and shown why he was so popular.definitely makers were slightly biased towards the locals and didn't want people to sympathise with the commune. Antelope neighbourhood people looked like fools who eventually won with the help of a more foolish Govt support.
angeladenis If you really pay attention, the documentary is ever so gently pushing your sympathies toward the poor, misunderstood cult. Soft gentle music to play on your emotions at just the right time. Someone stated it absolutely perfectly- what they did to those homeless people is an outrage- the Bhagwan wears a multi million dollar watch, but they wouldn't pay to send these folks back home? They drugged their beer people!!! They barely touch on why he left India- he was going to be arrested. If you notice all the Americans interviewed that had issue with what was happening were made to look like white ignorant jerks. How would you feel if someone invaded your home? They told the town it was bought for agriculture and the town was happy - who puts an airport runway and dozens of buildings, with thousands of people coming through and call it a crop field? They lied from the start and the film never addresses or emphasizes (no soft music here) what they put that town through. Very unfair representation of rural America.
