marieltrokan The main type of thought, and the main point of view concerning the thriller drama A Lonely Place To Die is a contemplation that's fun for being incorrect. One word is fun, another word could be correct; A Lonely Place to Die is a film that creates thought which is correct "because of" its erroneous nature. The story provokes incorrect judgement, but the incorrect judgement is a source of inspiration.Somehow, A Lonely Place to Die is the force of exposure not deserving to be honoured. The urgency of truth doesn't deserve to be acknowledged. Within an urgency is a story, and yet truth has nothing to do with story - truth and story are diametric realities. An urgency, on its own terms, is something which gravitates towards purity; combine urgency with truth, and the problem becomes very apparent - the movie is the assumption that purity has a right to be distinct to truth. Purity is a state of excellence, or a state of efficiency. Efficiency has been assumed as a separate state to truth, forcing the implication that truth is susceptible to corruption. If truth can be corrupt, then why the hell should any efficiency deserve to be respected? In all fairness, the meaning of A Lonely Place to Die can be summed up as follows: being right to reject the efficiency of possible corruption. Of course, this sort of definition leaves a few loose ends.It should be a virtue, to doubt corruption, however, it's the peculiar nature of A Lonely Place to Die that corruption only being a possible truth is a cause for disappointment. The movie is the corruption of inadvertently letting the fact of corruption be a welcome state, in turn letting the possibility of wonder be an unwelcome state.Wonder can't be a fact, as it's counter-productive to the meaning of wonder. The fact of purity and the meaning of wonder co-existing is a very silly and impractical kind of arrangement. For purity to be a fact, that would effectively require wonder to not be possible. A Lonely Place to Die wants it both ways: to have excellence as a certified state "and" to have belief. News flash: belief mandates impurity, and so it makes no sense for the same reality to question the integrity of an excellence after having already confirmed that the excellence is worthwhile
Sci-FiHorrorFan Wow this was a Great Film! they sure don't make them like this anymore. This film was exciting and thrilling from beginning to end and i was hooked all the way through. What makes this film work so well is the beautiful location the Scottish highlands.I thought the scenery was breathtaking which is one of the films many good points. The mountains and the trees look great and definitely has you captivated. The film is about a group of mountain climbers that climb for a thrill and one day they want to be skilled enough to climb the Eiger. I Liked all of the Main characters which is rare because in most Thrillers the characters are cannon Fodder or have no development but in this film i cared about the characters and thought there was some good character development also the characters were not stereotypes they were just ordinary everyday people that wanted to have some fun and i can relate to people like that which is what made me like them, they also seemed like a nice group of people and i had No problem with them. The cast was great you have the beautiful Melissa George who i like as an actress she gave a great performance in this film and she was very convincing. Ed Speleers was good and the rest of the cast were fine and the actors that played the two bad guys were very good. The bad guys were ruthless psychopaths and very cold and chilling they were both good bad guys in my opinion.they both had scenes where they were intimidating and it makes the viewer think wow you don't mess with these guys. The story to the film is simple yet effective which is what i like about the film it did not have some over complicated story it was a simple cat and mouse type thriller that was executed very well. The group of climbers find a young girl buried in a Chamber with nothing but an air pipe keeping her alive so naturally they get her out of there and help her and give her food and water.they then try to get her off the mountains to safety as quick as they can before her Captors Return.the Actress that played the little girl did a good job she was convincing and you really do feel sorry for her. When the girls captors find out she's gone they hunt down the people that took her and try to get her back. The bad guys hunt with Sniper rifles and they usually shoot from above which gives them an advantage. As i said before the bad guys are ruthless and brutal and all of their scenes are interesting. The Film has a very Brutal Atmosphere and Even Feels like a Horror Film at times because of the Intense chase scenes. Overall the film is more of a thriller and not a horror film but i can say the film definitely has a couple of horror elements one in particular is when the main bad guy wears a creepy looking pig Mask and goes on a killing rampage in the last part of the movie and that definitely gave the film a horror vibe. Some people complain about the last part of the movie because the location changes but i never had a problem with that,i thought the change of location in the last half hour was a good idea.the last half hour was just as exciting as the rest of the movie. I was not bored a single time during this whole film i was on the edge of my seat the whole time cheering for our main characters. The chase scenes in the Scottish highlands were very exciting and the film has a very dark gritty atmosphere throughout which i think adds to the suspense. The Music also adds to the suspense and works very well in the chase scenes in the woods. The chase scenes were very thrilling and the great music makes it even more thrilling.Michael Richard Plowmans musical Score is Fantastic and matches the film perfectly. His music does not play all the time but its played a lot during the chase scenes and climbing scenes and it was very effective and griping music. The finale part of the movie was one of the most exciting i've ever seen. Melissa George fights one on one with the Main Bad guy and they have a violent and brutal fight in a house. Melissa George fights to protect the little girl and she puts up a good fight too which i was happy to see.she was No damsel in distress that's for sure,i thought she kicked Ass in this film and was a very likable character. She was a very cool character and she took no crap from the bad guys. The Ending was very exciting and intense! and overall i highly recommend This Film I Thought it was Great! and is a Favourite Of Mine.
Woodyanders A group of mountain climbers led by the tough Alison (an excellent and convincing performance by Melissa George) discover a little girl named Anna (a fine portrayal by Holly Boyd) buried in the ground in the Scottish Highlands. It turns out that the girl was abducted. The group find themselves being pursued by the two kidnappers while a band of mercenaries hired by the girl's war criminal father show up to retrieve her. Director Julian Gilbey, who also co-wrote the script with William Gilbey, relates the gripping story at a brisk pace, builds plenty of gut-wrenching tension, maintains a hard gritty tone throughout, and offers a frighteningly vivid evocation of the danger of the wide open wildness (the mountain climbing scenes in particular are genuinely harrowing). The remote sylvan setting projects a strong and unsettling feeling of isolation and vulnerability. The sound acting by the able cast keeps the movie humming: Ed Speleers as brash novice Ed, Alec Newman as the rugged Rob, Kate Magowan as the sassy Jenny, Garry Sweeney as the cowardly Alex, Eamonn Walker as hard-nosed mercenary Andy, and Karel Roden as the pragmatic Darko. Moreover, this film further benefits form truly chilling contributions from Sean Harris as the merciless Mr. Kidd and Stephen McCole as the equally ruthless Mr. Mcrae. The outbursts of brutal violence pack a ferocious punch. Ali Asad's breathtaking cinematography boasts lots of stunning shots of the desolate Scottish forest landscape. Michael Richard Plowman's heart-pounding score does the pulse-quickening trick. A real nail-biter.
BA_Harrison A group of friends on a mountaineering holiday in the Scottish highlands become the target of ruthless criminals after stumbling upon a young Croatian kidnap victim buried alive in a box.For a while, British suspense thriller A Lonely Place To Die looks set to scale new heights in tension, with a gripping plot that offers no shortage of nail-biting suspense and breath-taking action; unfortunately, about halfway through proceedings, writer/director Julian Gilbey makes a mistake that causes the film to come crashing to the floor in a messy heap: he shifts the action from his mountainous locale to the village of Annan Moor.Without the added danger of the hostile environment, events take a much more formulaic action route. The second half of the film sees the kidnappers attempting to retrieve their victim while also shooting it out with the negotiators hired by the girl's father, a powerful war criminal; this takes place during the Beltane Festival, with innocent revellers caught in the crossfire, and to be honest it all gets a bit too silly for its own good.First half of the film: 8/10. Second half of the film: 4/10. Overall rating: 6/10.
