nickboldrini Form the opening bungee jump this tries to be an adrenalin charged version of the first film, but it just falls flat in so many ways The central romance is unconvincing, the story just has too many daft elements, and this just misses the simplicity of the original, and tries to be more "interesting" by being more complex, but just ends up a mess
Armand the only problem is the absence of its genre. is it a comedy ? a horror ? a form of publicity for Paris ? an uninspired remake? clear, that it is a great mystery. in essence, it is only a kind of joke. nice in few scenes, hilarious in others, who has not sense and, maybe, not script, chain of chaotic events without reason. Julie Delpy looks for right manner to solve the appearances. Tom Everett Scott is more confuse than the viewer. and the werewolves are only sketches. a horror for fun. that could be all. except the ideas about better solutions for a project who has not chance to convince. result - not exactly a bad movie but only waste of time.
crdnlsyn13 I gave this movie a rating of 1 which by IMDb standards means Awful. This movie is not 'awful' in the least, however it IS a remake, and I HATE remakes... Don't get me wrong, there are some movies, where the remake is better than the original, The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatcher (the first remake), but those movies had a great story. Well ahead of their time, but at the time they were originally made, the special effects technology was no where near what the story needed, to make them truly shine. An American Werewolf in London was phenomenal when it was made. It stood special effects companies on their heads, and made them change their approaches to several movies since. Because of this it will stand as a classic, that should have NEVER been "remade" ever. An American Werewolf in Paris, is a farce, and should be stricken for the annuls of history. Which is too bad, as I really like Tom Everett Scott, and this movie kinda ruined his career.I mean he worked with Tom Hanks on The Wonders, and then......... too bad. I know why he took the role, it wasn't his fault, that the movie should never have been made.
WakenPayne When I saw this movie for the first time I did honestly like it. Now I could see why I did (and that was only at a few jokes - gimme a break I was 13 at the time, and plus it isn't the most embarrassing thing I liked when I was younger). This movie doesn't really have that good of a plot. The horror in this movie is completely absent. Maybe it is that the Werewolves in this movie look like things I'd see in a Prototype game or it's that is has a complete lack of atmosphere or suspense. Some of the laughs in this movie I still laughed at. Things like when Andy was arrested and the cop says that the possibilities were limitless for what charge he was arrested with. So this movie does hold up in entertainment value in that area. But these laughs are too few and far inbetween. Not only that but those times were the only part of the movie I thought were any good. There really isn't much value in terms of "why to watch this" unless you're a completionist, 13 years old (like I was when I liked this movie) or just bored.
