Rating this T.V. production on visuals (set decoration, special effects, lighting, etc.), this flick would rate a 10. Where it falls apart as a total work, however, is casting (completely wrong lead actor, English-accent challenged and mismatched in age lead actress) and, sadly, story borrowed from sources other than Battlestar Galactica (for example, reinventing Terminator elements and themes). Some snappy dialogue in the beginning, which devolves into stereotypical soap opera claptrap. And you can't even imagine how terrible the big 'love' scene is...it is to barf. Lastly, it must be said that the dialogue frequency of the word 'frack', used instead of 'fuck', or 'fracking' instead of 'fucking', is so awful as to change every mood where the word is used into the most awful depths of chalkboard nail-screesching pain or, alternately, giddy hysteria.

BSG's success was based at least as much on good writing as it was on realistic CGI, good acting and photography. All these ingredients are missing here. The main weakness of the movie is its plot, which is basically nonsensical. Other reviews already pointed out in how many ways it is flawed, so I won't repeat it here. The usage of flares and camera shakes is exaggerated, at times irritating. The romantic storyline does not add anything to the movie, it is not central for the development of the plot and almost certainly does not contribute to the artistic value of the film. There is something of the spirit of BSG in this prequel, but it's kind of washed away. It feels like BSG might have felt after becoming an overstretched and bored production, which luckily for us it never became.

After watching this steaming turd someone has inexplicably left coiled on the mortal remains of BSG I'm somewhat concerned I may have permanently fried my brain taking hallucinogenic drugs. Throughout the entire experience I appeared to be having a particularly irritating acid flashback. Somehow my subconscious mind dreamed up a bland unimaginative plot, derivative clichéd dialogue, a young Adama being a really annoying little jerk and (this is how I know it must have been a flashback) some truly bizarre visuals. There were trails coming off people's faces man! It was like someone had taken a big fat digital brush and just smeared it across the screen. And the lens flares, oh they're cool aren't they? Let's have one at every single opportunity so it looks like we're watching a computer game designed by troglodytes who cant glance at a light source without being near blinded, which presumably is why they keep shaking the camera all the time. And to add sprinkles onto the turd why not end it with some cheesy metal music like some teeny youtube fanw**k.As you may be able to tell I didn't much care for this latest flogging of the BSG corpse. I mean honest to god Caprica was better than this.

For what started as a web series, this is a brilliant show. A tribute to the main BSG series which was also awesome. Great acting and good CGI, I'm a huge fan of Bear McCreary and once again the music was out of this world.Hats off to Luke for playing whats starts out as a cocky young Adama and how his character changes throughout the show. My only gripe would be that Galactica didn't have as much of a part to play in Blood & Chrome. I do hope that a new series will be produced so that we can see more of Galactica in her prime (Armed to the teeth).Needs to be watched in full 1080p with a good 5.1 system to really get a mind blowing experience. Also watch the DVD/Bluray version as a lot of bits that were cut from the web version.
