sandcrab277 I found nothing funny about this movie...it was more of the sad old clap trap baloney used by out of work and out of touch comedians...its really paining me to watch it let alone write about it...no fat slob is going to get a girl like cara to bed yet alone getting head from her...its his fantasy talking...i'm happily watching something else that i don't have to groan over
Nick Goodwin (thegoods7) this movie is hilarious. It really brings about real people in real life situations. Artie Lange is the best thing in this movie he really makes you laugh the entire time being an alcoholic and playing softball. if you've ever played in a slow pitch softball league there are people who are just like him out there and you can really relate to it while watching the movie. New yorkers playing softball doesn't sound to funny but with Artie Lange and Ralph Macchio it couldn't be any funnier. there are some parts that might offend some people so be aware of that. if you're just looking for something to sit back to and just have a good laugh with some friends this is the movie.
mcfly-31 Blatantly profane, smarmy attempt at a comedy, dealing with the uber-intense plot of a slovenly softball team trying not to get kicked out of their league. Perhaps if I grew up back east, where apparently close friends engage in non-stop insults of each other, their wives, and even small children. Or more importantly, was still a 14-year-old boy who could delight in laughing through a cupped hand at the hardcore sexual references. Maybe I'd be singing praises from a rooftop somewhere. Instead, I stared embarrassingly at the amateurish mess in front of me.I'm sure the target audience will cherish their dvds, but the limited release is the tell-tale of how unacceptable this is to most crowds. It borders on the same humor that made "Virgin" and "Anchorman" hits, but those films --- though I hated them --- at least limited their vulgarity. This film just purposely goes for the throat in terms of tastelessness and constant four-letter dialogue. It was good to see Macchio again (you could tell he asked that his cuss-words be kept to a minimum), and even Seymour Cassel play against type. But the casual nature of tossed off lines dealing with ejaculation and bj's was utterly desperate. And must we see another implausible romance between a hot slut and a greasy pudge? It's getting old. Did I mention the stripper that can launch ping-pong balls from her vagina? Nuff said.
Nick Zbu Artie Lange has talent. If it's one thing someone can walk away from this film with, it's that Lange is a funny man and has a real ability to portray a realistic human being and a damn funny one. The movie is pretty solid from a creative viewpoint and Artie himself is classic. He's truly in comedic form and simply outpaces everybody else in this movie. The supporting cast is sweet--through I didn't recognize Ralph Macchio until the credits--and there's nothing wrong there. I'm not damning with false praise when I think that Lange's performance in 'Dirty Work' is surpassed here with this film. It's raunchy without apology, and it works very well. The only problem is the film seems to be made on the cheap and the plot development was a bit rough. Not bad like they hired a pizza boy to do the editing, but it was noticeable enough to distract. The film quality itself is perfect and it's a damn shame this film didn't get a better word of mouth. While this is a gem, it shouldn't be found in a Wal-Mart bargain bin for $5.All and all, if you are a big Artie Lange fan, this is the movie where he returns to the brilliant guy we know from MadTV when he was propping that show up and Dirty Work. Now if he would only do a few more and get his life back into order, the world would be a better place.
