Dave_douell Loved seeing "Mick Taylor" from Wolf Creek in this movie. Too bad he didn't have a bigger part. I'm tired of watching movies where I actually hope the characters get killed just because they are so stupid. Bennie took the cake in the stupid department! Besides that, he was a jerk and a bully. Not a bad movie though, well worth watching.
brashbuzz Firstly, I rated this a generous 2 stars because I support the work of Chris Sun, Australian Horrors and the idea was a great one. I have been looking forward to this movie for over a year, ever since seing Melissa Tkautz talking about it on the RHOS. I can't remember how often I have searched for it hoping I could buy it. Finally, this week was the date I had saved in my calendar to purchase it on ITunes, and buy it I did! What a waste of money. Honestly, I am not one to bash movies, especially Aussie Horrors, but the script writing here is woeful beyond belief. Random characters introduced for no good purpose, whilst characters involved in the guts of the film aren't developed properly and their lines are just dreadful. There is no chemistry between many of the actors and the main attempt made at making it 'typically bush Aussie' is throwing costant four letter f bombs in stupid contextual places throughout the place. It is complete nonsense. This film had the potential to be a powerhouse creature feature set in the Aussie Bush. The Boar is actually realistic looking considering the size and many other large creatures I've seen in other similar films. Unfortunately, the script falls so flat (and it pains me beyond belief to say this being a huge supporter of the main people involved and many of the actors here) it is a complete disaster I will never watch again. A woeful, tragic, mess of a disaster. Long winded, excruciatingly awkward to witness snor-t fest.
jg-62457 Watched Boar because of the reviews and don't know where the high ratings came from. I wanted every character to be killed because they were all so freakin' annoying! Dialogue was vulgar and uninteresting, special effects mediocre at best. If you can watch it for free you'll get you money's worth, any more than that and you overpaid.
paulhfromthedeep Ok. It is what is, and it does what it does perfectly fine. Its a stock standard plotted monster animal story. A fair few deaths, most which you don't care about toooooo much, and a few you do. Most of those you think will make it , do. Some perfectly ok dialogue and some cheesy stuff, but nothing too bad. Some of the aussie country speak is a bit overdone and forced, but it works fine. Ernie Dingo is wasted in an unimportant back role. Probably an ancient looking Chris Haywood too.The Boar looks decent, but quite inert most of the time. The close up 'model' Boar is very inert but scary. The CGI 'distant' boar looks acceptable. It also looks a bit over-large, theres no way it'd stay hidden for so long. It IS the size of a combi. It has none of the weird surealness of Razorback, none of its fantastic soundscapes, none of it bizarre OTT characters, its all largely conventional. Its certainly no 10/10 movie, but its not bad either. Its.. um.. fine. Go see it, soon.
