Leofwine_draca BOO is your typical indie horror flick set in an abandoned hospital. A bunch of unlikeable characters decide to visit and find out the place is haunted by sinister spirits from the past. Now, this is still a very bad film, completely clichéd throughout and lacking in interest, but it's better than a lot of indies I've watched recently. There's a cameo from Dee Wallace as a nurse, the film's quite well shot, and the script's a little perkier than normal.
Spikeopath Bunch of pretty teens convene at an old abandoned mental hospital for Halloween. Things go awry.Written and directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, Boo is either a loving homage to all things involving "haunted house" cinema? Or one of the laziest horror movies made in 2005?Everything but the kitchen sink is thrown at the audience for this one, with the sound mix turned up to the max for, erm, max impact. The fear of this, the fear of that, what's real? What's not? And let there be blood! There will be blood!Acting is ordinary, as is the writing, but scene setting and location filming is not half bad. In a nutshell, it's a horror film that you show to your pre-teen family members to prep them for far better horror pleasures in their up coming adult life. 4/10
terrible2 Hmmmmm... I certainly understand a lot of the harsh criticism for "Boo", but I think some people may be looking at this harmless film the wrong way (or else I completely did)..."Boo" to me, seemed to be aimed more toward the "Occacianally watching" horror movie fan around Halloween-time, rather then the hardcore bloodhounds. The story seemed very "Tongue-in-cheek" and a little too cliché to be taken any other way. The acting was over the top and the setting had "Halloween Party" written all over it, so to me, I just watched as such and found it quite enjoyable... The cinematography looked great, and most of the "Jump" scares worked quite effectively, telling me that director Anthony Ferrante did his homework and produced a film destined for video store shelves. The silliness all seemed to be there for a reason and served it's purpose well, leaving the viewer wanting more. Again, I didn't go into this expecting "The Shinning", so maybe I'm wrong on every level, but I was not let down.After-all folks, the film is called "Boo"....
Claudio Carvalho The friends Emmett (Happy Mahaney), Freddy (Josh Holt), Marie (Nicole Rayburn), Kevin (Jilon Ghai) and his reluctant girlfriend Jessie (Trish Coren) decide to spend the Halloween night in an abandoned hospital. Meanwhile, the younger Allan (Michael Samluk ) meets the old friend of his father Arlo Ray Baines (Dig Wayne) and asks him to help to find his vanished sister Meg (Rachel Melvin) in the same spot. The two groups meet each other in the mental institution section on the haunted third floor and they find that they are trapped in the place. Jessie has visions from the past and discovers that the ghost of Jacob (M. Steven Felty), a former patient that raped a little girl and burned the hospital, is trying to escape possessing their bodies that melt down with his evil spirit."Boo" is a messy ghost story, with a confused screenplay and poor development of characters, especially Jessie. This lead character and her relationship with her mad mother are the key point of the story, but their stories are awfully disclosed. Further, the character Kevin acts like an annoying moron. The group using an old elevator that works in an abandoned building is ridiculous. However, I startled in some moments with the eerie atmosphere. My vote is five.Title (Brazil): "Hospital Maldito" ("Damned Hospital")
