Paul Magne Haakonsen I had expected so much more from this movie, especially since the DVD cover brandished 'you will scream your head off' and because it is allegedly based on real events. Right, well there was no screaming, and there was no enjoyment for me in this movie at all. It was an incredibly slow paced movie with very little happening. And I ended up giving up on it out of sheer boredom. I managed to stick with it just short of an hour, then I felt carved into several pieces of boredom. The story is about a group of young people who travel through a remote area where they find themselves at the mercy of a relentless slasher.Right, a storyline which has been used and used again in so many movies of similar concept and idea. And while it does work out well enough most of the time, then director Franklin Guerrero Jr. just failed to establish any hold on the audience with this 2008 movie. The acting in "Carver" was mediocre, to be bluntly honest. Although most of the acting was adequate, I have to point out that David G. Holland (playing Billy Hall Carver) as being the one who put on the most memorable performance. The cast were doing adequate jobs with the script and storyline, but they had restrictions imposed on them by the script and the direction. There were some nice enough torture scenes which did have some brutality to them. And that was actually, morbidly enough, the best part of "Carver".If you enjoy slasher movies, then you should not really waste your money, time or effort on "Carver", because there is nothing unique or memorable about it. And there are far better slasher movies available in abundance.
arfdawg-1 Claimed to be based a true event, only it never happened. The film starts out OK but goes downhill right after the credits. Nothing is believable in this movie. Nothing. Typical story -- a bunch of kids on vacation get hung up with a crazy psycho killer who likes to chop body parts -- hence the title. So poorly directed. So poorly written. So poorly acted. A good third of the film appears to have been doctored in post production to lighten up the image. You'll spend your time wondering why the video looks so weird.Don't waste your time on this one. It's not even HAHA bad. It's just bad.
samkerg I have seen this movie recently. Its an okay movie. Director made an attempt to make a movie like Hostel, but it is not perfect.Lets think in real. Can't these guys in the movie defend themselves from that fat guy. The killer is like a python and is very slow moving. There are no other persons who can support the killer.Usually once they know something is going wrong, anybody will get alert and they find the ways to get rid of problem. Here, they never tried to escape from the slot.Movies like 'Last house on the left' has a perfect and tight story line which are very realistic. The last scene is like a joke. However, it has somewhat tense in the middle. People can enjoy who are new to gore movies.I give 5 out of 10.
Allan Brunke I watched Carver with my girlfriend a few nights ago and as I was watching I soon realized that this movie was following the simple rules of dying in a horror movie. You know, sex, drugs/drinking, camping in the middle of nowhere, helping out some creepy guy in a diner.Although the death scenes were very predictable and I was found saying "Well, he's going to die." It still kept me entertained with a lot of bloody scenes, including one that will make the guys, like me, cringe in their seats. The ending was a little bizarre, but again predictable, something about having a character in the movie with the last name Carver sort of gave it away, but it was a very clean and what I like to call a "That's gonna be a sequel," ending. All in all this was a very good effort by a lower budget company and they deserve any and all props for this movie. The actors put forth an awesome effort especially that of main actor, Neil Kubath, who I think will have a very good career ahead of him in the coming years. This movie is totally worth the watch.Congrats to all for an awesome job.
