redproton88 I actually feel irritated that I am bothering to even take the time to write a review for such a horrible piece of crap. I was pretty neutral on Chelsea Handler before watching this, leaning towards thinking she was raunchy but pretty funny. Now, all I can think is what a ridiculous and pompous jackass. Enough already with flaunting your money. When I watch comedy, I like to laugh - not be insulted. I couldn't believe it when I was searching for more info about her and saw her net worth was $35 Million. That's the REAL joke - and a sick one at that. I almost wouldn't have minded her constantly throwing her wealthy lifestyle around IF she had actually said something that was funny enough for me to laugh. I never even cracked a smile.
Lance Wheeler First off, this isn't a stand-up performance. Chelsea Handler uses this "special" to promote her book by telling egotistical, conceited stories about her daily life. These stories will only be funny if you enjoy these three recurring punchlines: 1. Going out of your way to be rude to other people.2. Spending obnoxious sums of money to demonstrate how rich you are.3. Poo-poo and pee-pee.I have seen and rated more than 100 stand-up specials. This is by far the worst special that I have ever seen. It was not funny, and I could not relate to a single thing she said throughout the entire show.I'll simply use the title of this special to demonstrate Chelsea Handler's style of humor. The title of the show is "Uganda Be Kidding Me." As mentioned before, flaunting large sums of money is a recurring theme throughout the show. Uganda is one of the poorest countries in the world in which the average work day is 12 to 18 hours/day, and 38% of these workers live on less than $1.25/day... Not something I think is particularly funny.
azmurph I watched this and didn't laugh once. I did feel like there is a laugh track. Her jokes are stale and basically she just complains the entire time about how everyone is stupid. Gets old fast. I don't understand how/why people find this woman funny. I watched her e show every so often and never found it funny. I also don't understand why she walked away from her show, wants to take a full year off, then return to Netflix for a interview show. Not many people know who she is so fading away for a year won't help. I hope she gets better and tries a real stand up tour-not a fake one with a laugh track. We will see what happens in about 8 months.
Mr-Fusion . . . and by fake, I mean choreographed. Handler's up there (in full botox rigidity) delivering a lifeless performance and the audience is right there, every step of the way, with laughter. The kind of laughter you'd swear was canned, were it not for their being in a theater. She hits every pause, every emphasis with and the laughs come like clockwork. I don't think I've ever seen a comic doing this so half-assed, yet so on-point, and an audience just eating it up. This isn't a dig at the crowd (no trained monkeys joke here), it just feels like everyone in that theater is in on the joke. What that joke is, I'm still not even sure.I've never seen this before. Most of the time, the like or dislike of a comedian/enne can be easily pinpointed. They turn you off, you turn the channel. Simple as that. But I just sat there, feeling like I should, but having no idea when to laugh. There was the "live laugh track" to help me, sure, but it still felt like some weird art experiment. But Handler doesn't dabble in the avant-garde; she's too busy beating the alky-without-boundaries dead horse. 2/10
