gporcelli-41235 Chicken Little has good animations but doesn't have a memorable story or characters. Story is very clichè, it tells a story of a smart but troublemaking chicken boy attempting to stop an alien invasion. While the story is clichè it could evolve in a good and memorable tale, but the terrible ending made the story sound like a big joke. Probably Chicken Little isn't a movie, just a big joke. Despite its flaws I won't be too harsh with this movie. Yes the story is bad and the casting is flawed, but it has some funny moments, a pleasant narration and the character "Fish Out the Water" is a cool, and funny, little guy (just like Kenny form South Park). The movie has also an old, but appreciable, soundtrack.Final verdict 5/10 (mediocre). Chicken Little is actually the worst Pixar movie but not the worst animated movie. Personally I've seen much worse animated movies. If you want to give this movie a go, then I reccomend to watch it without too many expectetion.
wolfboi-64614 Oh boy, this is gunn' be a good one. Chicken Little was an animated movie released in 2005 and is directed by Mark Dindal (The Emperor's New Groove) and written by the same guys who did Brother Bear and Inspector Gadget 2 (Two movies you never knew existed). Our movie starts off quite unexpected, with the narrator trying to start off the hellfest by opening it with the generic "Once upon a time", the overused storybook, or tell everyone to buy many copies of The Lion King as you can. Then our film finally starts with a chicken (voiced by Zach Braff of Scrubs) yelling out to everyone that "the sky is falling!" and flat-out ruins the town (complete with a huge ball crashing through the theater while playing Raiders, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ua_oJfpQWY), then our hero explains what happens, then the worst character ever in animation history (Garry Marshall of The Princess Diaries) pops up out of nowhere. Then 1 year later, there will be a movie about what happened 3 minutes ago. Then one musical filler later, CL goes to school and meets his friends, an ugly duckling (Joan Cusack of Toy Story), a fat pig who loves Barbara Streisand (for some reasons/Steve Zahn of Diary of a Wimpy Kid), and a literal fish out of water (The film's editor), Then he finds out that his neglectful dad was once a kind-hearted baseball player, So Chicken Little is now a kind-hearted baseball player. Then after that for another 29 minutes, the aliens invade the town, War of the Worlds-style, and Chicken and his evil dad bring back a baby alien and save the town, and surprisingly and unexpectedly, Foxy turns into a old-fashioned girl singing "Lollipop", and Porky without a diet likes her now, Uhhh... and the movie's out, and the movie ends. (Thank God!) Overall, the animation feels aged, and the story is boring, Moral of the movie? People around you are mean, but they can work out at the end, plus there are some aliens for a reason, and for the company during this? Disney minus Pixar equals bad idea, Maybe until 2007, The Incredibles was good, Lilo and Stitch was good, Madagascar is good, This movie is not.OVERALL MOVIE: 2/10, I feel like having Popeye's now, If not, KFC.
Sherrill777 The Bad:Although I'd rank The Black Cauldron lower (for such dark, scary scenes), this one ranks way down there at the absolute bottom of Disney's barrel. However, rather than scary, this one gets its poor ranking due to sheer petty meanness of the characters. It seems like everyone is cruel to Chicken Little – including his dad! They mock him or sneer at him and as a parent I just felt sick every time this child's dad acted as if he were ashamed of his son. I realize the story creators were probably trying to convey the idea that Chicken Little is simply misunderstood and he and his dad have communication issues, nothing more, but it didn't come across that way to me. The rest of the town felt like a bunch of cruel yet gullible sheep. I mean everyone jeers at Chicken Little, then cheers as he preforms well for them, then jeers, then cheers. Except for the boy's few fellow outcasts who stick with him, everyone else follows the crowd in regards to what they think of our hero and it comes across with a message of "have perfect performance and you will get love and positive attention". Not a great message. The comedy also fell flat for me, failing to generate any laughs. The Good:The animation was okay. Not great, but I didn't find it horrible. The idea behind what the "falling sky" really was is actually pretty cute and clever. Yeah, not much else strikes me as all that good. The Mom view: I hate movies (or books) where the main character is treated with unjustified cruelty by others – especially when it is for an extended time. I don't think that this movie models good behavior or healthy relationships. I don't want my kids to see bullying (especially by adults) as acceptable behavior, even if there is eventual 'justice' (and may I just say that the female getting her mind 'adjusted' in the end is more horrific than anything she ever did!). I won't let my kids see this movie – Yuck!
FairlyAnonymous I remember seeing this movie when I was a kid (10 years old) and thinking that it wasn't too bad of a film. I knew it wasn't Pixar grade material or anything like that, but I thought it was fun and enjoyable, while a bit overly simplistic and predictable. However, upon rewatching it, I can say that this film has not aged well. The most noticeable aging problem with this movie is the animation itself. A lot of the characters walk around with a bug- eyed look and the movement is very mechanical at times. Granted, this movie wasn't on the budget of Finding Nemo (EDIT: NO! This movie had almost twice the budget of Finding Nemo! Where did the money go?) but a lot of this film feels many years out of date in terms of animation quality. Again, this is an older film, but the biggest issue is the movement itself. A lot of the characters move in very strange ways that look and feel unnatural. A good chunk of the character movement doesn't feel quite finished in terms of fluidity.Animation aside, let's talk about the actual story. Hoodwinked! proved that a good story and clever writing can make up for bad movement and animation. Unfortunately, Chicken Little's story is very small in structure and in scale. Things happen very quickly, but not much is actually happening to progress the story. For instance, almost nothing really happens to move the plot forward until about the 35 minute mark. The first 35 minutes are essentially: Chicken Little is a big screw- up and is trying to impress his dad who has insanely low expectations of his son. Almost none of this is really important to the big "What If" question: What if Chicken Little really saw aliens? While this beginning 35 minutes is important for "Father-Son bonding" it just doesn't feel very interesting. The plot to this movie essentially needs to be redone from the ground-up (for the most part).Even the story's weaker plot could work is the characters were a bit stronger... largely the father. Chicken Little's big dilemma is that his father has no respect for him. His father literally throws Chicken Little under the bus whenever something happens. What is even worse is that his father IS THE REASON CHICKEN LITTLE IS MADE FUN OF! Yeah, it is sick. No one thought Chicken Little was insane or making things up, until his father says "My son just made this all up, he must be a little crazy, see, nothing to worry about". This is a glaring issue in the plot where you cannot respect the father to any degree, even after he supposedly redeems himself. What would fit the plot better is if the towns people assumed Chicken Little was crazy (Foxy?) and then the father goes with it. That would be understandable. However, as is, the father is mildly evil. The other characters in the film are mostly just a combination of pop-culture gags and don't have any actual depth. Surprisingly, though, the character who is the most interesting and reasonable is Abby. While the character design intentionally ugly, the character herself isn't a bad one and seems to be the smartest. I think she is ultimately the best character in the film. Sadly, the film ends with a forced romance with all of the characters. Hints of Abby and Little's relationship would be okay, but the way it goes is a bit over-the-top. It feels more like a check-box that needed to be crossed off.Is there good in this film? Yes. Some of the gags are funny, but the greatest thing in this film is the aliens themselves (until they are revealed). The aliens are really cool and have a neat design. Their legs move like wires connected to hydraulic pumps that spring out to grab things, but then always spring back into a neutral position when not in use. It gives them a very mechanical, yet fluid feel. All in all, Chicken Little is not a great film by any means. The second half is much stronger than the first half, mostly due to aliens and such, but it doesn't save the film because almost all of the character development is based off bad characters. Cool aliens, and a couple of humorous moments, but nothing overly good in this animated film.
