ersinkdotcom There's just something about the country of Norway that lends itself to being the perfect location for a horror film. Maybe it's the image most people have of it being desolate, cold, dark, and isolated. It might also have something to do with the fact that 90 percent of the music we hear coming out of the country is death or black metal. "Cold Prey II" definitely doesn't help give movie audiences an alternate view of what to expect if you plan a ski trip to that part of the world. After surviving a horrific killing spree at an abandoned ski lodge, a college girl named Jannicke (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) is taken to a remote hospital for treatment. She tells her story to the local police who decide to investigate her claims. They return hours later with the bodies of her four friends and the mountain man responsible for the massacre. Unfortunately, the monstrous murderer isn't dead and begins slaughtering the patients, nurses, and doctors in his mission to finish what he started with Jannicke."Cold Prey II" is the perfect example of a modern slasher film done right. Although it brings nothing new to the table, it manages to keep up a level of suspense and delivers some legitimate jump scares at the same time.I couldn't shake the feeling that director Mats Stenberg and writer Thomas Moldestad were doing their own version of "Halloween II" and "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" for a Norwegian audience. Like those classic 1980s films, much of the action takes place in a hospital. The vision of the giant killer in "Cold Prey II" standing at the end of a corridor with the lights blinking reminded me of the same type of scenes in the sequels to John Carpenter and Sean S. Cunningham's iconic originals."Cold Prey II" is a welcome addition to the slasher genre. It's not doing anything new, but continues passing the torch to a new generation of horror fans and filmmakers. It will give viewers a sense of hope we don't get much anymore when it comes to these types of movies.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/849014/eric_shirey.html
HorrorOverEverything I've had the Cold Prey movies built up to me for a while now. All my friends have told me that I need to see them since I like horror movies so much. I had put off watching them since I figured I would just be let down, but finally I decided to sit down and watch the first and second one. I thought the first film was fairly mediocre but I still enjoyed it. Then I popped "Cold Prey 2" in and I was speech less. There are 3 things that every slasher movie needs to be enjoyable1. Likable characters - You have to like them in order to be able to cheer them on.2. A Scary Killer - Someone so intimidating and terrifying that just the sheer thought of them coming after you gives you goosebumps.3. A Good Pace - This is what a lot of slasher movies get wrong and this was one of the main problems I had with the first film. You don't want to take too long to get the kills going."Cold Prey 2" succeeds in all 3 of these aspects very well. The Killer is terrifying, the characters are likable, and things get going almost right from the start. Plenty of gore for the gore hounds and plenty of kills. If you were not a fan of the 1st film I still suggest you give this one a try. Its a great ride 9/10
kosmasp I really wasn't fond of the first Cold Prey movie (the ending was the final nail in the coffin of a movie that had very little to offer for me). I'm assuming you have seen the first one and know how it ended. If not, it does make sense watching it (especially if you are more of a slasher movie fan), because this does continue where the other one left off at the end. This is more straightforward and does not try to be "cute" (again talking about the ending of the other movie, but also about "character" moments and decisions that you'll only see in a movie like this one). Which makes it watchable (again I can only talk for myself here) and kinda fun most of the time.
John Doe Within the first 10 minutes of Fritt Vilt 2, you'll understand who'll survive, who'll die, and in what order. Within that same time, you'll also be really sick and tired of all the tedious "fake scares" accompanied by loud sound effects. If you're unlucky enough to have been dragged along to watch this at the cinema, you'll most likely also understand that the average age of the other people in the audience is about 13. There are some OK moments in Fritt Vilt 2, a few laughs, and almost a tiny bit of nudity, but alas its all halfhearted. At the end of the movie, you'll be left with nothing but disappointment, but hey, wasn't that also quite predictable of a slasher movie sequel from Norway?
