Mr.Crow Fantastic movie that has aged extremely well. Great music, pacing, story telling, and the amount of quotes that could be used for a high school yearbook is unreal. This is the difference between an adventure movie and an action movie. This is an adventure movie at it's heart when action scenes aren't the most important moments of the movie. Friendships bond, love is formed, mistakes are made, then mistakes are then corrected. I died during a boss fight while playing Dark Souls 3 simply from me being in amazement of the way some of the scenes are shot. My absolute favorite scene in when the group goes stealth mode and ambush the bad guys, lots of tension and buildup. Please even if you torrent it, just go out and watch it.
balsarius Conan was my first epic S&S movie experience. I can still hear my Dad saying: "Hide your eyes, boy!", during the naughty parts. He was one for the parental discretion. As a result, I grew up well adjusted, and we have a great man-to-man relationship in my adulthood.Conan the Barbarian, is like a teleportation into the canvases of Frank Frazetta's art. It is the best movie on the, Robert E. Howard, character and world of the Hyborian Age.This movie injected me into literature at 11 years old, and I found something strange occurred I have yet to experience in any other novels I have read.In those books I had to struggle to imagine a concept that when realized on film, often never lived up to my own mind's visual. With, Howard, I didn't have that dilemma. I could see Conan and many of his companions. I could see, smell, and hear the settling without a need to imagine beyond the scope I had seem already. As a man, I watch it often and it is a cinematic masterpiece. Brutally honest, gender serving for both sexes, and visually perfect for fans of, Howard. The effects are not over the top, and believably done. The blood splashing is iconic, and Johnathan Earl Jones, is as great in this as Star Wars. Not to be missed in life. This is, Conan, as nothing after it measures up.The 2011 remake made me think they were just trying to sell a climactic Play Station ending for the game they'd release on the title. I love the actor who played, Drogo, but he is, Drogo, not Conan, I'm sorry....
xxxNomadicxxx Watched it when I was four and just watched again at 40.This is a solid movie, the fight, the love, the companionship is real in this movie. One of Arnold's best, It's has aged well The score is outstanding today.Great score!Final fight scene is legendary.
Eric Stevenson Once again, I feel bad for not liking this. I mean, it's by no means a bad film for me. I just thought it was okay. The strongest parts are probably when they're talking about God, Gods, whatever. These really are some interesting and very emotional scenes. My problem with this movie is that it was just too long. I mean, there were a lot of scenes that just seemed like filler. There was too much of Arnold/Conan just wandering around in the desert. The battle scenes are quite nice, but the timing just seems to be off. There are too many subplots with him meeting all these people. That being said, there are some great scenes. I think my favorite is the very last one where he burns down the palace. This is all done without dialogue and you can totally see how good the emotions are. I also really like the costumes in this. Everything just seems set so well in its time period and it all looks so authentic. I guess I just prefer Arnold Schwarzeneggar's later roles. James Earl Jones is quite good as the villain. It's just that a lot of it goes on too long. I remember how Barack Obama is a fan of "Conan The Barbarian". I guess you can think of this review as a tribute to him in his last days of President. I am not looking forward to Donald Trump. **1/2
