K. van D I just love movies with a bad plot, unrealistic scenes, over the top acting. They can be very entertaining. I expected this movie to be really bad, but still fun to watch. However, even with these extremely low expectations the movie is awful... Great actors, even some good acting. But a horrible story, totally predictable script, completely unrealistic. Terrible screenplay, terrible effects, ridiculous props. Waste of time. Really. I can only wonder why great actors like Lyotta, Rhys Davis and Statham ever decided to star in this movie. What did they miss when they signed up for this? Did they even read the script? This movie is just some Lord of the Rings fan fiction of terribly bad quality. Would have been impressive if some students had made it with virtually no budget. But as is I can only advise people to stay away from this horrible piece of work.
BA_Harrison In The Name Of The King stars Jason Statham as farmer Farmer (no, that is not a typing mistake), who is drawn into a battle between good and evil that sees him finally claiming his birthright: the Kingdom of Ehb.Jason Statham (The Transporter, The Expendables), Leelee Sobieski (Eyes Wide Shut, Deep Impact), John Rhys-Davies (Raider Of The Lost Ark, The Lord Of The Rings), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Claire Forlani (Meet Joe Black), Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3), Matthew Lillard (Scream, Scooby Doo), Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), and Burt Reynolds (Deliverance, Smokey And The Bandit): an all-star cast in an almost all-crap movie.I say 'almost' because, despite his many failings—shockingly bad storytelling and an inability to command a decent performance from any of his stars—much-derided director Uwe Boll actually manages to pull off several surprisingly impressive battle scenes and delivers quite a few aesthetically pleasing, CGI-enhanced, sweeping panoramas in the style of Peter Jackson, all of which make this nonsense just about bearable if in a forgiving mood.3.5 out of 10, rounded up to 4 for gratuitous ninja action. Ninjas can make anything seem a little bit better.
Phantom_with_a_rose Awful. Not even Jason Statham could save this utter abomination set to celluloid. The fight scenes were not even fun one bit in the least, if anything, they were boring. The dialogue was also unbearably atrocious. The special effects were abysmal, too! I could not wait for it to be over with. I want 2 hours and 7 minutes of my life back. If you want a grand epic adventure film, watch Peter Jackson's live-action adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, but whatever you do, AVOID "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale" like the plague. Put simply, this movie was a complete train wreck and like most of Uwe Boll's other films, it makes anything by Ed Wood look Oscar-worthy.
djaychilds This may be the worst movie I've seen in several years, so I felt obligated to join in and inform people not to waste ANY time on it. I don't remember why my buddy and I decided to watch this in the first place. I'll admit the stupidity of it all actually made us laugh pretty hard a few times, but that's the only redeeming aspect you can find to this movie. After this one, I've officially concluded that Jason Statham just accepts any movie script you throw at him, cause he should have seen how bad this would be from the start. Uwe Boll is obviously well known for directing some of the worst movies around, which had I known that in the first case I would never have watched it. All the acting in the movie is HORRIBLE, which is surprising since some of the actors have actually been in tons of other movies and done a decent job. Ray Liota's character is dumb. Jason Statham's character name being 'Farmer', doesn't help anything since his acting is very sub par in this as well. Matthew Lillard become my least favorite actor for at least a year after his devastating performance in this movie as Duke Fallow. To go along with the bad acting, this movie couldn't have possibly took much to make since the bad guys known as the "Grug" I believe look like the initial Power Rangers villains from the early nineties. All in all this is an outrageously bad movie that I should not have the misfortune to see for sale on store shelves. Enjoy!
