Once again, everyone is comparing a low budget flick to mega Hollywood films. While this film does feature John Travolta, it's obvious that they just used his name to get the audience's interest. But don't let that dissuade you from watching it. All the acting from the lesser-known actors is still very good, and in fact, might actually even be better. Travolta plays your typical mob boss, but the guys involved are anything but your mob underlings. It's a formula I've seen before, but the twist later on in the film gives it a unique twist that made it worthwhile. Even if stuff didn't make sense during the film, it came together at the end. It's nothing that will rock your world, but it was enjoyable enough for an hour and a half.

Four young men make a risky investment together that puts them in trouble with the mob. The word 'F*ck' can be heard 70.000 times during this film also John Travolta needs to stop being in movies it's sad now the worst thing about this film is Dan Stevens that by the end of the film they tried to give him a bigger plot twist and background but the movie is do dumb and hilarious in a bad way and when there's no plot you just don't care at all. Also Michael Pitt was another character that nobody could feel anything for his character or anyone else on this story. Jackie Earle Haley actually directed the film and co- starred as well and i really feel bad for him also cause he was in Nightmare on Elm Street as well and you know what that film turned out to be.

All the guys proceed well but the actors, including the scene-stealing, acquit themselves quite amusingly, as does director Haley, who also plays one of Travolta's henchmen. Working from a chatty script not as cleverly hatched as it likes to think it is, Haley whips it into something decently entertaining even as you begin thinking about how truly great "Get Shorty" and Travolta's Chili Palmer were midway through those double-crossing criminal activities. Criminal Activities is overall a sneaky, snaky little crime thriller with some pretty impressive plot twists with some stylish touches and committed performances which enliven this otherwise not special crime thriller.

Even The Usual Suspects wasn't clever enough to pull off a surprise ending but the house of cards built in that film was so interesting and so fun that by the time you realized what had happened the lights were already coming on in the theater. And excuse me for being pedantic but dropping about a million F-bombs is no substitute for dialogue. Blood and gore are no substitute for tension and without tension the violence is boring.Some of the minor roles were good. I liked the kidnapped guy, the two bald henchmen, and Travolta's character. Unfortunately, I didn't like any of the four accomplices in the main roles.I can't believe that they are still making these bad Tarrantino knock-offs. I wish that they would stop.
