ab dc If you haven't watched the first movie then...I'm not sure what to really say. Okay, I seen CI and the sequel doesn't make sense. In the original movie (might be a spoiler but not a big one) Sebastian wants to have sex with Kathryn because she is unattainable to him. They never engaged in intercourse and that is said in the movie, Cruel Intentions. Now, in the second movie Kathryn and Sebastian and some other chick have a threesome... Doesn't make sense. Also in the original, Sebastian had never been in love or fallen for anyone until he met Annette. But, in the sequel he falls in love with some girl ... My point is the sequel is trying to sort of be like original but the facts have been rewrittened. Even if you had seen the 2nd one and went on to watch the first one it wouldn't make sense and vice versa. So why would they reverse key situations? The movie would've been better off without 2 and 3.
foxy-iv When I saw this advertised on TV, I was a bit apprehensive. How could they possibly follow the first film after what happens at the end of the first, but I was willing to give it a go. After the first 10 minutes, I thought I was watching the wrong film and had to check to make sure. But no, it was the right one. I had to force myself to watch it the third time (I kept flicking over after 15 minutes of so) just to find out what they were trying to accomplish.Basically, the first film had me enthralled from the beginning. This film I ended up laughing during it. I actually thought it was a comedic parody. My personal opinion? Don't watch this, watch the first one again!
callanvass Roger Kumble wants very much for Cruel Intentions 2, to be like the original, only he doesn't have the budget for it, nor the talented cast that he did in the 1st to pull it off. For starters the only impressive cast members in this movie are Sarah Thompson, and the now infamous Amy Adams, Robbin Dunne is a low rent version of Ryan Phillippe. This plays of a prequel of sorts to Cruel Intentions, but really it's more like a poor rehash of the original, even mimicking some of the classic dialog from the original. I didn't feel the realness between Sebastian and Danielle, that I did between Annette and Sebastian, it just felt thrown in there. It never takes itself very seriously, and normally that's a good quality to have, but that's what made the original so powerful, it almost seems like a spoof at times. The loads of nudity is unnecessary along with the stupid subplot of Sebastian's dad.SPOILERS : It turns out Danielle was in it all along with Kathryn to toy with him, and all 3 end up having a make out session of sorts. This was laughable, and completely ruined one decent aspect of the story, even if it wasn't that believable.Performances. Robin Dunne looks kinda odd to be playing Sebastian, and he doesn't have the charm to pull it off like Phillippe, he just looked off, and I didn't buy his performance. Sarah Thompson plays the sweet virgin actually pretty decently. She's no Witherspoon, but she holds her own. Amy Adams is about as sexy and downright ruthless as SMG was. Not quite in her class, but definitely very good, and she was often the highlight of the movie for me. Keri Lynn Pratt is basically just trying to do Selma Blair's role in the original, she did OK. Mimi Rogers looks sexy, but that's about it.Bottom line. Cruel Intentions 2 is a pretty poor rehash of the original, that likes to call itself a prequel. The original shouldn't have been touched. Cruel Intentions is an almost classic movie, this is a poor DTV sequel, that is barely worth a look for curiosity's sake.4/10
jebakerii I can't believe this movie received financial backing. The original Cruel Intentions was unique, slightly disturbing & quite interesting. This movie is... well... awful!!!! The storyline makes no sense... it just just bounces all over the place and you're left wondering, "Where's this movie going?" Why did those two girls get in the shower with Sebastian? What was the whole point with his Dad & Stepmom? The whole fund raising for the school? It just made NO SENSE!!! Even as confusing as the storyline is, the "twist" ending is totally obvious and lame. All the actors were TERRIBLE! Everyone related to this movie should be BANNED from film making by the actor's guild.
