adonis98-743-186503 Paul Kersey is back at working vigilante justice when his fiancée, Olivia, has her business threatened by mobsters. Death Wish V: The Face of Death benefits from Charles Bronson's amazing talent but unfortunately that isn't saying much about the film itself. First of all the villains were kind of uninteresting and boring, the kills are few and forgettable and the movie lacks action and good suspense except a few moments like the ending and the attack on the house but overall this is the worst of the 5 movies. (4.9/10)
Scott LeBrun Why on Earth does Paul Kersey ever get involved with anybody? Why does he even bother having friends? He must surely know that, in his case, history will keep repeating itself. Nevertheless, he gets involved with a fashion mogul (Lesley-Anne Down), who happens to have a young daughter (Erica Fairfield). The girls' father is Tommy O'Shea (Michael Parks), who is a big shot, absolutely ruthless gangster. Since he's been poking his nose into his ex- wifes' business for years, she agrees to testify against him, only to perish in a failed escape attempt. So Paul once again goes back to doing what he does best.Despite a lame script (by the director, who also has a cameo as the toy store clerk), these movies continue to be perversely irresistible. There's just something always satisfying about seeing a brutal avenger dole out sadistic punishment to the scum of society. And make no mistake, the villains here ARE pure scum. They're all one dimensional and unsubtle, while local police (represented by Lt. King, played by the great Canadian character actor, Kenneth Welsh) are pretty damn USELESS. It's no wonder Paul is so compelled to make up for the inadequacies of the injustice system.Helping this final (at the time) entry in the "Death Wish" series is the fact that the filmmakers know damn well what they're doing, and that's making a trashy B movie with violence aplenty. Paul is not content to just shoot people here, getting more creative with his kills (a poisoned cannoli, a booby trapped soccer ball, etc.) Charles Bronson is good in his full-on tough guy mode, but it's the supporting actors that bring life to the tired scenario. Robert Joy (as dandruff plagued hit-man Freddie), Saul Rubinek (as a district attorney), Miguel Sandoval (as Rubineks' right hand man), and Mr. Welsh are always good value in anything they do. The lovely Down is appealing, and Parks is a classic "love to hate him, hate to love him" kind of bad guy.If you love vigilante cinema, you should dig this one.Seven out of 10.
trashgang Kersey is back, this time, I guess, he must be a real playboy because in each flick he has a new wife with a daughter and again this time his new girlfriend is working in the model business but her ex is a mobster so you guess where this is going. The problem is that it doesn't have anything to do with scum walking in the streets and need to be killed. That's were it went wrong with this franchise and face it, Bronson is old too here to take it up against the mob. It was his final flick, sure he did made another 4 TV movies before leaving the scene. Some scene's are unbelievable like for example when 4 thugs are shooting towards Kersey standing in the open without being hurt. The acting is okay and the story was mediocre but the major problem is the quality. Sound and picture doesn't stand up to the standards of 1994. Guess being made only for the money; sadly the worst of the series.Gore 0/5 Nudity 1/5 Effects 0/5 Story 2,5/5 Comedy 0/5
Jamesfilmfan905 Death Wish V: The Face of Death (1994) 18 | 95 min | Action, Crime, Drama | 14 January 1994 (USA) plot Paul Kersey is back at working vigilante justice when his fiancée, Olivia, has her business threatened by mobsters . Death wish 5 is the final film in the series starring Charles Bronson is a middle aged man who is also a vigilante battles mobsters who are led by Michael parks who are trying to sabotage his girlfriends soon to be fiancé olive regent played by Lesley Anne down from continuing . Anyway the film isn't as bad as that bad as some people might say sure the script is ineptly riddled with clichés seen in other movies of this genre its preposterous to watch Charlie boy running about dodging bullets and killing off bad guys in macabre ways at the age of 75 but . I got to say he looks in great shape and his stunt doubles are far less obvious as seen in a couple of the previous films and his performance still shows the character of Paul kersey still has some depth left in him and its an going through the motions performance but still serviceable considering his age at the time . Lesley Anne down is gorgeous but severely wooden as Bronson's girlfriend Michael parks is in my mind undoubtedly the best villain in the entire series suitably smarmy and sleazy . so anyway its not a great film but if you liked the others . I guess check it out .
