Sandeep Gupta Much like Munna (Sanjay Dutt) and Circuit (Arshad Warsi) are integral part of Munnabhai series, Khalu (Naseeruddin Shah) and Babban (Arshad Warsi) are the integral part of our own Desi crime comedy series Ishqiya. Ishqiya wasn't a crowd pleaser so its sequel Dedh Isqiya also does not aim the masses. Instead with its Urdu dialogs every now and then to support its atmosphere and honest story telling, it requires your patience and attention so that you can enjoy the quirky and intelligent dialogs written by Vishal Bhardwaj. The movie is most enjoyable whenever you witness the electric chemistry between our leads. New actors include another veteran Madhuri Dixit, fierce beauty Huma Qureshi and ultimate performer Vijay Raaj. Vijay Raaz's character must be kept in the story if they are taking the series forward which they should. Movie looses you sometimes during its long Urdu conversations and the tiring and labored performance by Madhuri Dixit. Intelligent crime comedies and black humor are still to find a place in Bollywood hall of fame but Vishal Bhardwaj and his team promises you that they will not compromise and keep serving you with intelligent stories.
Tejas Nair So, sequels are supposed to be jinxed. Abhishek Chaubhey is back with his quirky continuation of the tale that reintroduced neo-noir into Bollywood. Dedh Ishqiya borrows heavily from the thriller/heist movies we have seen lately, but it deals with itself differently. Maybe the dialogs are quite subtle & strong at the same time. No prizes for guessing how the actors maneuver the plot into dynamism. Well, the plot revolves around a masquerading crook trying to woe a widowed princess so he can become the Nawaab of that town. The beloved duo of Ifthekar & Babban enter the scene with rather bizarre intentions and somehow get entangled. What follows is something better than majority of the 2013 releases.Huma Qureshi is too sexy for the role, Madhuri Nene is shimmering and steals all the limelight; Shah & Warsi are sweethearts when it comes to character build-up. They truly are the real drivers of the violence- infested story. Lots of poems, sex, betrayals and songs pave the way for a rather appreciable effort. Not that the songs are amazing, but if you have little doubt whether to watch or not, take Vijay Raaz as an alibi; boy, can he act! He is wonderful. Let the long running time and amateur editing not stall you from 2014's first blockbuster. At least, they didn't screw it up. But I do feel they could've related the prequel (more) into the plot. That'd make me more jubilant. Adhai Ishqiya is on the way, though!BOTTOM LINE: Recommended!Profanity/Vulgarity/Mouth-Kiss: Strong | Sex/Drugs: No | Smoking/Alcohol: Mediocre | Violence/Gore: Very Strong
Akshay Sonthalia Amazing flick.. Loved the offbeat beginning and the gunda who Arshad escapes. The movie becomes a little slow all of a sudden immediately after that scene but its still enjoyable and i recommend any fan to just go and watch it. Best dialogue which is repeated 3ice in this movie is : 7 stages of love : Attraction, Infatuation, Romance, Reverence, Worship, Obsession and Death. Interesting !!! Songs some of them r cult, its brilliant to watch Madhuri Dixit dance once more. The locations chosen are also rural and fixed, sometimes one wishes there was more dynamism there and thats when she gets herself kidnapped. For all avid movie goers. Go fetch and enjoy !!!
Tathagat Verma A wonderfully shot film. I would say it was a good experience. Though a long 2 hours and 50 minute movie, it didn't feel so; as the story-line and screenplay is quite brilliant. Also the characters have been defined quite well. Usually the reason for making a sequel is banking on the success of the first or earlier release, which turns out to be disappointing and unnecessary, but it wasn't the case here."Dedh Ishqiya", is an extremely pleasant experience, plus the hilarious characterization of "Babban" (played by Arshad Warsi) is just great.Great performances by all actors; Naseeruddin Shah - great as always and Huma and Madhuri's work was equally good. But a special mention to Vijay Raaz. He just takes the cake. "Jaan Mohammad" played by Vijay, is a power hungry politician who after engulfing everything that he could, has a single point agenda, to marry Begum Para (played by Madhuri Dixit), a widow of the previous Nawaab, who wants to fulfill her dying husbands' wish that she should remarry to a poet; And to achieve this she keeps an annual competition. This is where the fun starts as Khalu (played by Naseer) disguised as Nawaab of Chandrapur, who is smitten by Begum Para (Madhuri), enters the competition, only to find a tough challenge against Jaan Mohammad (Vijay). The movie has some very well written dialogs and the overall play-out is just really, really NICE.Kudos team entire team, especially to Vishal Bhardwaj and Abhishek Chaubey.
