marionbengtsson This movie is about a Nigerian refugee, that is illegal in the U.K. he works at a hotel, and lives with another illegal refugee that works at the hotel. His boss is corrupt, and takes organs from illegal refugees, and in return they get passports. He learns that Okwe has a doctor degree from Nigeria and pressures him to help him, and in return he gets a passport. Since Okwe lives her illegal he has a lot of trouble with the people that works to get them out of the country. Since they both are here illegal they have to take shitty jobs, and low pay. their bosses disrespect them, and make them do all kinds of things.the movie has low sound quality, you cannot hear what they say because of the accent and because of the background noise. Do not recommend this movie.
tobiasnorum the movie is about a Nigerian refuge, and the general plot is awful, and we can't hear a damn thing what they say due to their bad accent. the acting was somewhat good. the sound was good, but the soundtrack was awful. the clipping could have been done better. if you want to waste 110 minutes of your life go ahead. i do not recommend this move cause it was awful to watch and it is very hard to follow what is happening in the plot. and a lot of the actors/actresses speak so awful English that it is hard to understand the dialoge without subtitles. it is a truly awful movie and i would not watch this movie if i get paid to watch it. waste your life if you want to, but i recommend not to watch it.
Abel Muteba Dirty pretty things is about a medical student who has two jobs in some way. He works as a cabby and front desk in Baltic hotel. He discovers an unusual thing happen in room 510. Things don't go so well when his friend shenay. She is a Muslim who works as chambermaid at the hotel. She dreams of living in New York and she goes through a lot to achieve that dream. She receives a visit from immigration service. Both of them are illegal immigrants. Okwe's boss Juan is in a business that performs illegal surgeries and Okwe has no choice but to be part it just so he can be legalized in the U.K.My opinion: this movie was bad and i didn't like it. its just my opinion. it was a slow paced movie and it took time for me to get into it. they were so many unnecessary scenes too. don't worst your time on this movie like i did. what
Robert J. Maxwell Oh, those undocumented aliens, always messing everything up! Of course they have THEIR tribulations as well, and this story illustrates some of them, the sort of things that constitute what politicians call "life in the shadows." The two features players -- Chiwetel Ejiofor and Audrey Tatou -- are immigrants living in London. He's illegal, a doctor working two jobs as at the front desk of a respectable hotel and as a taxi driver at night, chewing stimulant weeds to keep awake. Her status is marginal -- she can't live with a man and isn't allowed to work. She does both, and the Minister of Immigration agents are always nipping at her heels. The story opens with Ejiofor in his desk manager role trying to unplug a toilet in one of the nicely appointed rooms and finding a human heart is causing the problem. It develops that the sneaky manager is running a business in which illegals yield up an organ in return for carefully forged passports that will allow them to leave England and make a new start elsewhere. That's only part of the array of options open to an illegal. You can find work in a sweatshop whose manager pays you less than scale and who insists that if you're an attractive young woman, as Audrey Tatou is, you give him some "relief" during the lunch break. She gives him relief the first time then bites him the second time, losing her job. The climax has an unexpected twist.I admire the way the film was executed. It's in no way dumbed down. Even the Spaniard working the organ business has a reasonable explanation for what he's doing -- from his point of view, everybody benefits. Tatou is cute and pouty throughout, as a refugee from Turkey. Chiwetel Ejiofor is a likable actor, handsome, polite, decent. His style is what some directors call -- well, I can't use the term here but it ends in "--kickers," in which the actor keeps his face lowered, as if looking at some cow flop he's about to nudge with the toe of his boot, and glancing up from time to time at the person he's speaking to. With some actors that can be a mannerism but with him it seems part of his quiet persona.Nobody's head gets wrenched off. It's not an action movie. It's not even much of a mystery. It's a well-plotted tale of an African guy who peeks a bit too deeply into his milieu and finds the tissue is beginning to decompose.
