HumanoidOfFlesh Buenos Aires.A horny monster is raping hookers to death with his huge penis tearing their uteruses.A beast called the 'Kurupi' is desperately trying to find a suitable baby-maker in order to sustain its species. It's time for tough cop Sean Fallon to stop the creature...The premise of "Dying God" sounds spectacularly sleazy, unfortunately most of the rapes and violence takes place off-screen.Even the amount of nudity is minimal.Lance Henriksen and Misty Mundae are both wasted in this boring piece of garbage.Adimittedly the climatic battle between Fallon and the beast is hilarious and quite gory.Watch Japanese outrageous "Guts of a Virgin" instead-similar premise, awesome result.3 out of 10.
in1984 The monster idea was the best part of the film and what made it watchable. The film has an interesting idea, but that's pretty much where it ends. The acting and oddity of listening to to a mix of English and French accented English in a South American industrial city is a bit too much. Sort of like watching it filmed in a French Canadian province for a story that's supposed to take place in Brazil. The lack of fit gave it that b-movie/TV quality despite a good soundtrack and believable FX.The director and caster get responsibility for it. The stereotypical dirty cop, hookers, relationships, cigarettes, and drugs just didn't fit. It all seemed forced. Too many easy fixes that irritated me and took my focus away from the story.
psycrology84 I don't know were to begin, as everything with this movies is so terribly wrong. For starters, it is shot with a hand-held digital camera - which makes for a feeling of crappyness. It's not pleasant to look at all. The acting, direction, soundtrack, plot, script; every god damned thing about this production is flawed. And I can't believe that someone put money in it, or that a company decided to distribute the shitness. Sure, even low budget movies can be entertaining or even great, but if that is to be a reality, you will need a director that actually can direct and actors that actually can act. And a plot that seems fairly thoroughly made. This movie has neither. Some low budget movies are intentionally bad, and therefore creates a entertaining value of it's own. But here there's not irony or self distance to be found... This movie is nothing but embarrassing and every single person that was affiliated with the production, should be banned from the movie industry.
jmbwithcats Default Fabrice Lambot's DYING GOD Dying God (2008) Dying God Delivers With Original AppealThe MySpace official page for Fabrice Lambot's French-Argentine horror Dying God is online, and on that page is a poster for the movie. Also, Brad Krupsaw's blog for the movie is online. The screenplay for Dying God was written by Lambot and Jean Depelley, based on a story by Nicanor Loreti and Germán Val.The movie's cast includes James Horan, Lance Henriksen, Erin Brown (a.k.a. Misty Mundae), Agathe de la Boulaye, Enrique Liporace, Victoria Maurette (she's also in Albert Pyun's Left for Dead and his BulletFace), Ivan Espeche, Samuel Arena, and (Brad) Krupsaw.Dying God has a surprisingly original story and though the movie starts to flail early on from the flat acting and low production costs, once Lance Henriksen shows up at around the half-way mark things start to look up.James Horan does a fine job himself and all the girls do a great job too. After 15 minutes, stop and turn away from the screen. Yell as loud as you can to overcome the feeling of turning off this movie due to the horrible acting and post production, but then keep watching, I don't think you'll regret it. If you like horror and have a quiet afternoon to kill this one's worth the watch. The movie is basically about a very cool legendary monster from Panamian folklore who is about to die, desperate to find a mate to continue his species, the only caveat is most of his prospective mates don't survive the first coupling. An intensely gory film with a cool monster that while starts out bumpy won't disappoint for a low budget horror it's a bit of fun.
