jtindahouse 'Evidence' is a very clever movie. Generally we have come to associate the 'found-footage' genre with horror movies, and one could possibly argue that 'Evidence' is in a way a horror movie. But to me it is far more of a mystery/thriller and the 'found-footage' concept works exquisitely in terms of the story. To have multiple cameras all being introduced one after another and adding a different perspective to the mystery added a great deal of depth to the film. The end result is a fantastically crafted thrill ride full of mystery and twists. The only negative I could find about this movie is that it does get a little convoluted and confusing through the middle. There is so much going on and with the camera angles obviously not being ideal (simply due to them keeping the 'found-footage' concept realistic) that it is a little hard to follow. I didn't find this to detract much from my overall enjoyment of the film however. Other than that I can't really fault the film. The structure, pacing and acting were all of a very high standard and I would thoroughly recommend this film to as many people as I can.
Rabbit This is one of the most annoying films in the history of movie-making. The female cast in the 'found footage' is the most over-excitable I have ever seen - everybody seems to want to talk, shout or scream all at the same time (not unusual in Loudmouth America but not good in a film) and the hand-held camera footage is so all over the place and jerky it renders the whole piece unwatchable. Some of you might enjoy this kind of rubbish (if you liked the equally unwatchable and massively overrated Blair Witch Project - you will probably like this). Watching crap like this will probably encourage the development of epilepsy, so good luck with that. This is a truly awful piece of film-making.
clemmysl I enjoyed this movie despite its many flaws. I was entertained from beginning to end. It's one of those you'd appreciate more the second time around because there's a lot of hints and clues.Pros: Caitlin Stasey is gorgeous. Awesome intro scene. Creative. Has details that hint the ending (rewatchability). My god Caitlin Stasey is beautiful.Cons: Some actors were great while others were terrible. The ending seems anticlimactic. Several unrealistic scenes. Not very thrilling or suspenseful. Seriously horrendous camera work (the found footage is even better). Not enough Caitlin Stasey (she's behind the camera too much)!
David Roggenkamp What starts out as a crime scene investigation quickly turns into a sub-genre as police investigate lost footage. That's right, the movie is a lost footage flick with a twist. The police investigation is the main meat of the movie, with the lost footage only serving as the filler. This makes sense as lost footage films are normally full of filler and lots of screaming anyway. Only this time it is police chasing a madman through a film and an audience observing the police instead. The killer in question does something unique – he uses a torch cutter to dismember his victims and light them on fire. The killer also does something unique to strand his victims – barbed wire underneath the bus that is transporting the targets. Not unique is the fact there is a gas station in the middle of the desert; also not unique is the fact it is young college students en route to a trip of fun (Vegas) and they soon find themselves taking a detour and stranded.I will not spoil the surprise, but the movie uses several genres to play it out and does so in a way that was both entertaining and very surprising. The movie takes several clichés and mixes them for something new. I recommend the movie.Originally posted to Orion Age (http://www.orionphysics.com/? p=8027).
