jamesm1068 I rented this thinking it was going to be just another slasher film but was really surprised to find out it was much more than a simple horror film. Kelly Hu was awesome in this, the acting was above average for most of it, while by the middle of the film I was on the edge of my seat and the end I was surprised by the twist. I can see that viewers of this film who were expecting a suspense filled drama wouldn't like it if they were not fans of this genre and it is a true horror flick. The story begins a little slow for the first 5-10 min. and seems like a typical low budget horror film but once it gets rolling it is a nice piece of work, the film turns out not to be a low budget horror but a suspense filled horror film that is a bit creepy and fun at the same time. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys bloody good horror films!
Paul Magne Haakonsen "Farm House" is somewhat of an interesting movie. It starts off fairly good and just gets better.Once introduced to Samael and Lilith, I thought the movie was going to take a turn into something supernatural, so I was kinda expecting something to happen throughout the movie, but I was kept in suspense. Sure there were lots of thrills and some nice scenes, but never anything supernatural... Not until towards the end. Now, I am not going to give away more than this. The cast was good. Especially Steven Weber and Kelly Hu in the roles of Samael and Lilith, they did a nice job. They were just enough creepy and enough weird. But also the two leading parts were nicely acted out.Throughout the movie it is like you are following two different stories involving the same 2 leading cast. One story where they are at the farm house, and one story dealing with their loss of their child and them struggling with their debt. These two running story lines worked well together, and came together in a nice moment of clarity. Now, this is not a horror movie that will have you screaming and curling in fear. But there is enough suspense and thrills to keep most horror-fans interested. As for the ending, well, it did take that long awaited supernatural twist, but it was a bit too much. But hey, it is only a movie. Despite this ending, the movie was still quite enjoyable. Suitable for a night of staying indoors watching a movie.
mdnobles19 This definitely takes torture films to a whole new level with it's brutality and very dark subject matter with a twist that will shock you to the core. I thought the performances were all pretty good but sometimes fell flat but nothing distracting and is very graphic and twisted in some scenes that is definitely not for the squeamish. There was dread throughout the moment it started and it will have you guessing how it's going to end and you will probably be wrong because it's devastating and horrific. The production values are pretty basic lifetime movie of the week material but that doesn't make it lose its effectiveness and being downright disturbing and dark, very dark. Overall this is a pretty solid thriller about a couple that tries to start a new life after the death of their child but wound up fighting for their lives and I recommend this slow trip to hell for the twist alone.
movieman_kev Scarlet (Jamie Anne Allman, known mostly for her short, but very memorable, stint as a prostitute on "the Shield") and her husband, Chad decide to stay at the farmhouse owned by Sam (Wings funny-man Steven Weber) and Lilith (Sunset Beach's Kelly Hu) for the night after they have some car trouble while moving to Washington state in order to start anew after the death of their only child. But quite obviously the intentions of the farmhouse couple are slightly less that altruistic.Writer Daniel Coughlin once again teams up with director George Bessudo with only slightly better to show for it than their first film "Lake Dead" (that's solely due to the fact that whereas that film was utterly abysmal, this one is merely sub-par with an ending that sinks it). Jamie Anne Allman can and indeed has done miles above the acting she does here, the guy who plays Chad is atrocious and the other two fare no better. The ending just about ruins the film, not that it was spectacular before that. And I just look back on the movie as time that I could have spent more wisely by doing.....anything else.My Grade: DDVD Extras: a 10 minute Behind-the-scenes featurette is the one and only extra
