Kirpianuscus each occasion when I saw it, the impression was clear - it is a precious film. precious because it is a magnificent story about friendship. and about past. and about the fall of childhood. and, after years, it was the film with one of the most convincing meets on the screen - between Anthony Hopkins and Anton Yelchin. a meet almost magic. who preserves the dust of a special confession, the spirit of the work of admirable Stephen King, the flavor of a trip beyond yourself. so, a film like a black coffee. who gives the rare state to discover it as key to yours memories.
ikjirstin This is one of those films I must watch every year, because I find so much in it at each viewing. I still remember the first time, back in 2001 at the theater, when I heard it had something to do with a real CIA program, but it had me from the first scene, long before the espionage arrived. As a photojournalist myself, I was captivated by the opening scenes, so well-acted by David Morse. Like most Stephen King novels, the reality factor seems high, and each scene is important in moving the story forward. The young Mika Boorem was so me at that age, she was easily relatable, and Anton Yelchin was an actor beyond his years even then, as a boy. We all knew would continue as a fine actor, even Tony Hopkins. He is so missed. You can see this fine film for just $2.99. A great way to get started, but you will want to own it. One of those great ones to show friends who may have missed it.
leeb3350 Anthony Hopkins was so great, explained to Bobby about life, it's good & bad sides. He told Bobby how to choose what you need to do in the life. About right & wrong & learning how to deal with your choices. People make mistakes, you learn from them, except the lesson & move on with life. To forgive, love, remember those you have loved & lost in life. Live life the best that you can.Anton Yelchin was great also as a good boy needing someone to Care, and Love him. Someone to look up to & help him to learn how to live, make right decisions, to grow up to be the best that he can be. Growing up with only one parent that has to work to support the both of you, doesn't leave too much time together. Not much money to be able to do things that cost money, unless they work 2 jobs or more overtime. Sometimes trying to do more so you can give or do costly things with your child hurts them more by giving less time of yourself. It's important to be there for your child. This was a truly emotional, moving, & thought provoking story. I Loved it & cried at the ending for everyone's tragic events! As life really is a mix of events we travel thorough.
thinkerv0 Hearts in Atlantis is a movie which has many appreciable sides to it. On one hand it's a great mystery movie and on the other it's a great tale of one innocent child who happens to meet a psychic. Two scenes stand out 'perfectly' in my memory and they seem to be some of the best scenes I have ever witnessed on screen: In first one three kids are playing and walking on a railway track which has a shape like a snake and at the end of this railway track there seems to be a horizon with a Neptunian yellow glow of setting sun. This scene is very sensitive and beautiful scene. The scene at the climax where kid drives his bike and disappears is also a very affecting one. This is a mystery movie because many a things are not known. Who the psychic was and why he was being searched by some mysterious bogey-man type agents, where did the father of the kid go and some other things remain unclear. The movie however has a very touching tale of the relation between the kid and the psychic. The kid has a difficult childhood because his mother is not only poor but also mean. The character of the kid has been played very efficiently by Yelchin. As for the psychic, one of the greatest and most charismatic actors of all time, Anthony Hopkins was playing it and he does not let you blink with his majestic style. This is a sentimental movie imbued with colors of mystery. And yes, Stephen King did this one with a bit less of horror and paranormal and he did it brilliantly!
