Leofwine_draca HIT AND RUN is a bog-standard example of the low budget horror genre. It's a film made with little in the way of intelligence or originality, instead telling a weary old story with no variation. The dumb protagonist decides to drink drive and accidentally run over somebody; instead of going to the police she buries the body in the woods before somebody starts stalking her. This cheap tale goes for a mix of atmosphere and gore, but fails on both counts. The direction is very ordinary, the scare scenes are anything but, and the gore effects hardly stand out. You'd be better off watching the ghoulishly enjoyable hitchhiker segment from CREEPSHOW 2 instead of this trash.
crutch234 " Hit and Run' was an interesting take on the hit and run problem in America. Especially how things go to hell when you don't call the police when you should. She should have reported it right off the bat and saved herself doing time, but then there'd be no fun of watching the killer come back from the dead (I think) and go after her. By the way, I wasn't sure if Emmsir was really dead or just in really bad zombie shape. I recently saw another film that had to do with a hit-and-run called Stuck, from a real case in TX. There is some similarity in the events, except in Stuck the man is stuck on the windshield. In Hit and run he's on the bumper. Also the girl in the Hit and Run is way more attractive and hot than the girl in the other flick. Other than they are two really different movies. Stuck is more art house, this is more heavy on the action and teen stuff.
lambchoprare Hit and run has some influence from "Creepshow 2" and "I know what you did last summer". Creepshow 2's "dead man's curve" episode comes to mind when watching this flick. You know the episode where this adulterous woman leaves her lover and drives home but hits this homeless guy on the highway. The guy keeps reappearing in all different places on the car, tormenting her, he's still alive and says "thanks for the ride, lady". Well this movie is not like that but it has kind of a similar tongue-in-cheek thing going on, I know it's a stretch but almost an homage in some ways, with the teenage girl Mary hitting and running over a bi-polar teacher who was out wandering aimless in the woods, and later in her garage finds him there hanging on bumper. She buries him but the guy keeps coming back from the dead to get revenge on her looking real ugly. I'd classify this as either a pretty decent B horror movie or a black comedy, or both.
gus86 After I watched this it occurred to me that it could be everything after she buried the body was part of her delusion. I say that because the movie changed tone midway. At the start it was really kind of real and shown normal. Girl drives back from party. Girl finds dude on front of car. Girl beats him upside the head with golf club and buries him. Then after that the events become more and more ludicrous and out of hand, which made me think we were seeing it all from her hysterical delusions. I didn't mind that too much. Then I thought that it's even possible maybe the whole hit and run might not be real either and the whole thing was some kind of nightmare she'd entered, like "a Christmas Carol" or something and the freaky teacher back from the dead was like a ghost of Christmas Past teaching her a horrifying, nasty, never-to-forget lesson about why she's a naughty girl drinking and driving. After all, he did wrap her up in x-mas lights.
