azathothpwiggins INVISIBLE INVADERS stars John Carradine as Dr. Noymann, who blows himself up during an experiment, in the first few seconds. Of course, the title ties in w/ his untimely death, and he's quickly re-animated, but is he himself, or... ? The -now possessed- Noymann explains his people's plans for our extinction to a former colleague. Enter Dr. John Lamont (Robert Hutton- THE SLIME PEOPLE), who is skeptical, but tries to warn the populace, only to be met w/ mockery. Thus, the invasion begins. We know this because Noymann's disembodied voice tells us so. In no time, shambling zombies are roaming the land, causing stock footage disasters to erupt! Lamont and his cohorts are joined by Maj. Bruce Jay (John Agar- JOURNEY TO THE 7TH PLANET, ZONTAR: THE THING FROM VENUS) and whisked away to a maximum security bunker. Zombie mania ensues. Of course, there's a global catastrophe underway, but we only get to see what's going on either inside or right outside the bunker. That is, unless you count more, occasional stock footage of unrelated explosions! The rest is the usual blather among the characters. Agar is in top form here, generally yelling a lot while the scientists do science stuff, trying to create a weapon to destroy the aliens. Meanwhile, Phyllis Penner (Jean Byron) stands around looking prim. All in all, not a bad way to burn up an hour... P.S.- Check out the secret weapon. It shows up again in ANGRY RED PLANET!...
Rainey Dawn This is one of those crazy but really fun science fiction films from the 1950s. Invisible Aliens are giving the Earthlings 24 hours to surrender or they will take over the planet! They will kill people and take over their bodies! The the thing I found the funniest is, when they captured the invisible alien - why didn't they try throwing paint, mud, powder or something on it to see it? They were wanting to see the one they captured... try a good paint that is hard to take off the skin to throw on him or it. OK maybe it would not work because he can take over the bodies of dead humans but it would have been worth a shot. It would not kill them but at least you might be able to see the one in the cell. LOL.Over all this one just crazy, corny, cheesy fun. AND this one has John Carradine as an Alien - but you won't "see" much of him. LOL.7/10
JohnHowardReid What a bright idea! How to save thousands of dollars on your "B" movie adventure: Make your invaders invisible! As implied, this is an extremely low-budget, sci-fi horror melodrama from the Robert E. Kent—Edward L. Cahn pill-box. The screenplay by Sam Newman (obviously penned in his lunch hour at CBS TV), begins with some ineptly padded introductory scenes before switching to an enormous amount of stock footage which turns out to be considerably more interesting than the movie itself. Indeed, when the movie itself resumes and director Cahn takes the reins, entertainment flies out the window. Mr. Cahn's painfully inept direction gleans only a minimum of atmosphere and tension from some quite promising Newman material. Admittedly, Cahn is not helped by his fourth-rate cast. The stars, John Agar, Jean Byron and Robert Hutton are particularly weak. Available on an excellent Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer DVD.
oscar-35 *Spoiler/plot- Invisable Invaders, 1959, There's not one man but armies of them hidden on our Moon. They are here to take over the Earth by inhabiting one corpse at a time. They announce it to the world daring us to stop them. Perfecting the body snatching skills the invisible moon men army take over our recent dead. Can any scientist figure out a way to defend the Earth and stop the gruesome plot? *Special Stars- John Carradine, Jon Agar, Jean Bryon, Philip Tonge, Robert Hutton, Hal Torey*Theme- Science can always save the planet given the right amount of time.*Trivia/location/goofs- Bronson Caves in Gower Park Hollywood CA, Stock footage of car and plane crashes from other films of the time. Sometimes the wire used for the alien footprints is clearly seen. Regularly seen B-Movie actors: Robert Hutton, Jon Agar, and John Carradine have roles. The excellent 50's drive-in second feature film in theatrical release was "It! The Terror from Outer Space", featuring Crash Ray Corrigan as the main space monster and a good spaceship crew. *Emotion- Essentially a zombie film with science fiction overtones. The monster scenes are kept to near the film's end but you're first treated to some alien footprints scenes illustrating aliens walking with heavy some breathing. Things get rolling with a secret cave laboratory to capture and experiment on an alien discovering that sound can drive the alien out of the host body. They film is standard plot fair with little distinctive elements. This film is mediocre escapist movie fun.
