Pumpkin_Man When I was 10, I was obsessed with the Jack Frost movies. When I heard about this sequel, I was psyched. I even went to Walmart and was like "Hey, where's Jack Frost 2?" to a guy working in the movie section. Unfortunately, I had to just rent it at my favorite video store, Movie Warehouse. I was a little disappointed because they didn't show Jack too much this time around. They show him in all his snowman glory about 50 minutes in, but even then, they don't show him too long and he just stands there. He doesn't move around like in the original. I didn't find out til a few years ago, that all the VHS copies were heavily edited. I recently just ordered this on DVD because of the release of the original on blu-ray. I watched on Youtube and Jack Frost 2 is a lot gorier and with more language than I ever saw as a kid. Why were the VHS copies so heavily edited? One year has passed, and Sheriff Sam Tiler is still obsessed and worried that Jack Frost will come back for him. Someone has dug up the Anti- Freeze and Jack is released from his prison. Sam, his wife Anne, Deputy Joe, and his fiancée Marla take a vacation to a tropical island where it's very warm and it never snows. Somehow, Jack follows Sam and his friends to the island and begin to kill the tourists. Jack appears as an ice cube, and a carrot for awhile, til he finally makes his grand appearance. He begins to hack up little snowballs that are his babies. They are so adorable! I forgot how cute they were. Sam, Anne, Agent Manners and the island workers must fight to survive the snowball rampage, and this time...not even Anti-Freeze can stop them! If you love the original, I highly recommend JACK FROST 2: REVENGE OF THE MUTANT KILLER SNOWMAN!!!
dmcfry While the original Jack Frost was terrible, yet fun to watch, Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant, Killer Snowman, is just terrible. The main characters surviving from the first encounter with the murderous Jack are back here, as is Scott MacDonald as Jack himself. However, whatever it was that made the first film fun is sorely missing here. The effects are terrible, the dialogue is terrible, the acting is terrible, and I could go on and on. I think the original film found the perfect balance of serious and humorous moments. It balanced telling a (completely illogical) story with just the right dose of not taking itself seriously. This movie just threw story out the window and put all its eggs in the "not take itself seriously" basket. The filmmakers shouldn't be faulted for this, as a movie about a killer snowman should never take itself seriously. However, without some kind of effort put forth to make you care about the characters, then even cheese like this can turn your stomach. While the original will always be a crappy horror classic, this sequel comes off as an attempt at milking money out of an idea. I don't recommend this movie.
arpinnock There isn't much you can say that hasn't been said already. The acting is awful, the photography is bad and the effects aren't great. But that just adds to the fun side of the film. The moving carrot and Jack's oneliners always make me giggle. If my wife and I need cheering up then we know that This is not going to disappoint. If you like this then you may also like Sand Sharks. The films starts in such a way that is a lot different to the first but you can tell that it is going to be funny. Watching little snowballs killing people and the ways that Jack kills people are just great. The poor acting just adds to the humour and makes it ten times funnier than intended (or was it intended this way). I would love to see Jack Frost 3 made in the same way if ever done, which isn't very likely but oh well.
Aaron1375 Yes, in this movie you are treated to multiple little snowmen on the attack in apparently a very warm climate so yes this movie is definitely not to be taken seriously. It is in fact a much worse movie than the original as at least with that one the whole production looked like it cost more than a couple of bucks and a video camera to make. It has its funny moments, but really playing off the cheapness of your movie and making that be your intended laughs is kind of weak film making if you ask me. You can not come up with a good story, your effects are going to really be bad, hey let us just make the movie look as bad as possible with horrible one liners and we have our movie. The first one at least had a somewhat credible story as the snowman in that one attacked during the winter and not what amounts to a resort. It also had better effects too, this one is just a step or two ahead of "Hobgoblins" as far as the monsters are concerned and you really want to be more than a step a two above a bunch of hand puppets. Still, it makes up for all of this with a super ending that depicts a great sea vessel being taken out by the mighty frost. Actually, I am just kidding, but really it was the funniest part of the movie.
