Sercan I found this movie to be an informative and entertaining telling of the story of Steve Jobs and the start of Apple. The picture portrayed of Apple was unrelentingly positive, so at times the movie felt somewhat like an extended Apple advert. The picture portrayed of Steve Jobs was realistic, so we see both his good and bad sides. Few punches are pulled about what Jobs was really like. (However, perhaps this is the sort of thing that every successful man has to do on the way to the top.) Kutcher was well cast and played the role rather well, I would say. The scene that sticks in my mind in particular is his blistering telephone call with Bill Gates. If I have any criticism, it's that the movie was more or less structured as a straightforward biography, almost like a docu-drama. It felt a little superficial and by-the-book. Despite the thorough coverage of Jobs's philosophy, the movie didn't seem to have enough to say about Jobs's true internal world. We are left to wonder why he was such an a*shole.I was sorry when the movie ended (before the final years). I think the current score of 5.5 is too low. The movie is worth about 6.5, and it has enough merit for the score to be rounded up.
Mihai Toma The story of Steve Jobs, a teen who drops college and with a team of friends, starts building the most revolutionary computer the world has ever seen. The development of Apple Computer, from a garage firm to a gigantic corporation is presented in detail along with Steve's complete change in personality. His life, with all its ups and downs, with all his right and wrong decisions regarding mostly his friends, with how he makes the same mistakes as the ones he accused in the past and how he loses his most prized possession and eventually gets it back, receives a lot of credit in this movie.Unfortunately for me, it pays attention only to the beginning of his ascension, and too little to the final part of his life with what he had accomplished after his comeback. The conflict with Microsoft is also only briefly mentioned without detailing the following implications in that way. It is too superficial in this aspects so because of these, its rating lowers considerably. Besides them, the actors play a very good role in reenacting the life of Jobs, from their makeup to their impressive speeches. It's a good biography which focuses mainly on some aspects of history while neglecting others which are in my opinion, as significant as the beginning.
djolisa888 This is not a movie for Apple consumers. I guess the reviews reflect the viewers wishes for this piece to be an eye-candy project. This movie is explaining entrepreneurs journey to success through Steve's life. It's a true story - nothing happens over night. Even when you conquer everything there is to conquer in the industry, there's gonna be patent thieves, rotten non-visionary board members, broken friendships and much more. This is probably the only Kutcher's role where he showed his full potential as an actor.
Oliver Thatcher Watson Despite what most critics say, I think this film is great. Great story, great editing, great camera-work. I will be honest and say that the acting isn't exactly great, but it's good enough to be believable for the most part. It's also very sentimental, which may differ how you watch this movie. This film is absolutely perfect for those Apple fans out there. It may not appeal to anyone who doesn't really care about Apple though. Despite that, I honestly think this film is a joy to watch and is an inspiring biopic of the tech giant. I recommend this film to anyone who has an interest in Apple, as well as anyone who is curious about the life of Steve Jobs. Though it may not appeal to everyone, it still is one of Ashton Kutchers best.
