Kirpianuscus it is strange to define it. because it seems be a form of spring morning. simple, touching, delicate, convincing. and charming. it is the film of an if. one so present in Christian denominations than the film seems be the universal answer. and one of the basic ingredients of its special beauty is the impeccable performance of Tony Goldwyn. this detail does the film more than one of many religious films with status of Neoprotestant message. it does it more than a film for the believers. it propose only an interesting perspective about a certainly event. and it does a great work.
eragonbookfan This movie introduced me to big Hollywood names like Tony Goldwyn, Kurt Fuller, F. Murray Abraham, as well as Giancarlo Giannini! I think someone should EDIT each of their profiles on IMDb, and list especially THIS film on their pages as one of the movies they're basically known for!I make this review simply because I think this is a little movie with a lot of heart that deserves *A LOT* more love, recognition, and attention!Upon first viewing, I kept guessing & guessing who Joshua was. And all the colorful characters he comes across, the events that happen, the love, the joy, the message, and the passion He brought was upon amazing! And the ending to the film was great and perfect as well!Overall, so many critical issues were addressed in the movie that I think a lot could relate to. This is great film for ANY family to own, share, and watch over & over. Whether you're a believer or non-believer. To anyone who is TRULY searching, TRULY wondering, or TRULY curious about knowing Christ, this is a film strongly recommended! I'm just a little disappointed that the hype has probably died out about it about this film till now, or that it's not exactly translated into enough languages and still sold in video stores around the world, or that a lot of the cast had gone on to star in many classic trashy Hollywood films since then. But I hope & pray that this film will continue to hold special place in each of their hearts, and that they will be blessed, and will come into the full knowledge of the Son of God, and be able to fulfill the purposes for Him in their lives! There's even an underrated song by Michael W. Smith called "Love Is Moving" where I couldn't find ANYWHERE on the Internet by YouTube or iTunes - so I ended up ordering the CD & uploading the song myself! Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1MhpIW8PrIAnd indeed a great Message this film holds: The world has become a frightening place, with so much anger & not enough love. The world needs love. Love will revive and renew. Love is good, and love is moving! You may know by now how many classic examples of Hollywood is to always show movies about the DARK NATURE of man, to show violence, and chaos, and fights, and cursing, and swearing, and all sorts of immoral influences. It's because I like the films just like this! Or even a lot of the movies released by PUREFLIX or Sherwood Pictures (The Encounter, Facing the Giants, Fireproof, Flywheel, etc), or heck, may be even "Here Comes the Boom" by thunder! These flicks that show us that we CAN improve, and we CAN teach ourselves and each other to become better godly people!*SPOILERS* The ending actually consists of Joshua revealing that He is Jesus, and that the same concept of how it was back then, with Jesus confronting the religious Jewish pharisees, He now confronts the religious catholic priests - the same applies of how He reveals they're only soaked in on religious teachings, and hardly any truth or love. As well as being jealous of the people's love for His teaching & actions of love, instead of people giving more attention to them!Trivia: The name "Joshua" is actually derived from the Hebrew term "Yeshua", which actually means Jesus!PS: And this isn't the ONLY film about if Jesus dwelt amongst people today. Watch the movie called "The Encounter" (2010), directed by David A. R. White (God's Not Dead), starring Bruce Marchiano!
Armand one of that movies reducible to its message. because it is its unique virtue. the performance, cast, script are instruments for better understanding.it is a religious film but in a special manner. because not the saint element is central but relationship. it is not a moral lesson. it is not a lesson. only pledge for different mode to discover and build life. it is beautiful and touching because the shining of little basic things/fact/words/parables are beautiful and touching. it is like a spring morning or a poem in an old box. nothing else. a film about a community. and way of a stranger. self-definitions. and warm state of soul. that is all. enjoy it !
ccthemovieman-1 Now here is an honest-to-goodness Christian movie, based on the best-selling book in the mid '90s by Fr. Joseph Girzone. This parable, I would think, would be a lot more effective evangelizing film than The Passion Of The Christ, only because this is so much more pleasant to watch. But it is no watered-down version, either. While Mel Gibson's film shows Christ's love in the incredibly- painful sacrifice he made, this movie shows the nature of His love in ordinary, everyday life with ordinary people. This is a not a Second Coming story, rather just what Jesus might be like if he re-appeared and mingled with human beings today, in this case in a small southern town in the United States. Here, "Joshua" (Tony Goldwyn) is pictured helping a diverse group of townspeople, ministering to them individually and helping them to come together as a community. He isn't arrogant or pushy about it; he just leads by example. A sub-plot involves his influence with two local priests: an older skeptical pharisee-like cleric (F. Murray Abraham) and his younger and personable assistant (Kurt Fuller). It's nicely done, with good production values and some solid acting. It's not too heavy-handed for the unbelievers while at the same inspiring to believers. As one of the latter, this movie just made me feel good all the way through. This kind of movie isn't just unusual.....it's downright rare.
