SnoopyStyle Michael Cromwell (Tim Allen) is successful in the world of New York commodities trading. He plans to marry high fashion high maintenance girlfriend Charlotte (Lolita Davidovich) but first, he must get a divorce from his estranged wife Patricia (JoBeth Williams). Patricia is presently living with natives in the jungle and she shocks him by revealing that they had a son in 13-year-old Mimi-Siku (Sam Huntington). He reluctantly allows Mimi-Siku to go back to NY with him. It's a tough transition especially with the boy's pet spider. The kid falls for Michael's high strung co-worker Richard Kempster (Martin Short)'s daughter (Leelee Sobieski).I like nobody and they are all annoying to some degree. The worst is Short but his wackiness is not unexpected. By himself, he could be written off as a bad sidekick. The problem is that Michael is unlikeable and sadly the kid is not much better. While the dad's idiocy fits the premise, it's the boy who is the most disappointing. He should be a likeable fish out of water character. He could have a nice puppy love romance with Karen as she teaches him the ways of the city and he teaches her the nobility of jungle living. Instead, he's more of a brat especially with his pet spider and he does it all with that goofy smile. I don't like the coffee trade subplot. I don't know anything about the French original but it sounds even worst. This is misguided at its core.
Minahzur Rahman I use to watch this movie all the time since I owned this on video, and it was a fun movie to see. It is pretty cheesy, but it's still enjoyable nonetheless. It gets better as the movie progresses. There are some really funny scenes. Tim Allen is what made this movie enjoyable to watch. Even if you add the performances of all of the other cast members of this movie, it still wouldn't matchup to Tim Allen's performance. I don't think anyone else could've played his role any better otherwise Jungle 2 Jungle would've been a disappointment. The movie shouldn't be taken too seriously since it's just an enjoyable family flick! Nothing else to say really.
yuprgirl This was a good, clean movie with a great plot which was played pretty well for 99.9% of the time. The scene where the Russian mafia man came to the house to teach a lesson for being double crossed had a few hokey moments in it, but was still pulled off despite them. My impression is that the primary reviewer is not necessarily a Tim Allen fan, and that's alright. I enjoy Tim Allen movies and consider this one of his best ones-a man learns how to take on his responsibility as a father, even though he could have, ultimately, thrown in the towel and just turned his back and walked away from his son. How refreshing to see someone struggle to do the right thing instead of just looking for the easy way out.
Seth Nelson Disney came out with this good live action film in 1997. It is called "Jungle 2 Jungle," and this is an updated, American version of a similar French film called "Little Indian, Big City," which was also released here in the states around the time this movie was released. It stars Tim Allen, the man of "Home Improvement," and he worked in the international trade business in New York City. He was asked to fly on down to the Amazon jungles to meet his "son," who I think is called "Mimi-Siku," which has quite a funny meaning to it. He had brought him back to New York and showed his "son" the concrete jungle, as it is known (hey, the same happened in one scene of "George of the Jungle!" About the name, not being there, I mean.)"Jungle 2 Jungle" is one movie that can't be missed!!!!! I've seen this on Disney Channel (old and new) for years now!!!!!10/10
