psycho bob Short and sweet storyline:- Set in another "world", Kaena is the rebellious girl of her tribe.She finds herself beckoned to save her people and world, with the help of some new "friends".This is the best anime using CGI since Final Fantasy and is just as good.Certainly outshines The Animatrix, which is also a favourite of mine. Don't let other peoples bad reviews put you off-take a gamble, rent the DVD(video doesn't do it justice) and make your own mind up. I saw this from a downloaded, poor quality copy that was passed on to me.I liked it so much that I went and bought the widescreen DVD the next day. I confess to being a little bemused at the PG13 rating, as my two youngest daughters(7 and 10 years old) loved it and will watch it again.The only thing I can think of is a chase scene but even that was not scary to them.They have seen worse on Itchy and Scratchy!! It's a must see for anime/fantasy fans of all ages.10/10 every time from me !!

Lee Bartholomew I think someone here posted it looks like a video game. First off, whats wrong with that and second even if it were, it'd be one hell of a video game. But it's not so there. I think there's a difference between artistry and CGI. Which would be why Harry Potter 1 works, but we can complain about the appalling CGI.I do wonder some if it's really originally in English as IMDb.com says or if it was in French. Because clearly Kaena's voice sounds well, I think a black could have played that part quite well. But I guess it's a better performance than say Claire Danes voice-over in Princess Mononokie.I felt sorrow for the one worm, because it became obvious that the alien was gonna die. (voiced by the late Richard Harris) the bad guys and gals was where CGI began to come apart. They were hard to look at. And blended into the background. Perhaps it was intended that way, but I doubt it.Some of the editing was choppy, as I viewed this thru Movielink, I don't know if there were deleted scenes. But considering how surprised I was at this film, I'm likely to buy it. Although the editing was indeed choppy and knocked the quality down a bit.7/10Quality: 7/10 Entertainment: 8/10 Replayable: 10/10

ieatmold i thought it was really a pretty good movie. Don't expect the childish humor you might find in shrek or sharks tale. Though it sounds funny to say this about a cg film with the main character being a large chested tomb raider figure, i thought the movie actually had something deeper to say. It is modern mythology that shows a representation of conflict in society through our religion and trying to understand and cope with the world around us...she tries to find real meaning and continues throughout the film searching for a better way of life and peace...in any case worth watching. I don't know what else to say about it... they want me to write at least ten lines...thats about it...yeah

mattias8005 comparing this to toy story, ice age, shrek or pretty much any other animated movie is a mistake. they have nothing in common except being animated. complaining that there is no humour in the movie just shows that you didn't understand much (or any) of the tale it tells.this movie is dark, serious and sinister. it tells the viewer of another world, far different from ours. it is falling apart, the gods are angry, monsters are roaming and people are being killed. there is nothing to laugh about and adding humour to it would be like adding humour to braveheart. the story is quite original and doesn't resemble much of whats out there already. some video games spring to mind however. the movie has the same mystic atmosphere as 'another world' and 'the dig'.what makes this a hard movie to watch is that it doesn't make anything obvious. the story isn't easy to understand and you aren't supposed to be able to guess the second part of the movie after having watched the first one. you rarely have the feeling that you know whats going on.if this is a bad or good thing is up to you but i sure don't like movies that almost feel old before i started watching them.the visual design of the movie resembles that of the cgi in the final fantasy games (not the movie). you could complain on the animation of the characters perhaps, but it is a design decision to not make them look and movie like real humans. you might not like it, but that doesn't make it bad. and i can assure you that the characters don't resemble lara craft. other than being a girl.the movie is a 9/10 for me, but then again, i'm a sucker for this kind of story and visual design.
