Reviews

aydanwoodward I thought this film wouldn't be too great. But when I saw it, I actually thought it was INCREDIBLE! I love films about made up countries, and this is set in a REAL LIFE micro nation! I thought the comedy was very funny and it made me laugh a lot, and the rest of my friends were crying of laughter in many scenes of this film. However, it does have a couple of issues. Some of them being a few predictable jokes, an unsatisfying ending and many plot holes and story inconsistencies, but that last thing is one of the things that makes it funny. The Nostalgia Critic was fantastic in it, Cinema Snob, the late JewWario and several other actors all perform excellently in the film. But some characters were a bit over the top, but nothing too big to worry about.
timic83 How could this pile of crap even be sold? It isn't funny, just reuses old jokes and worst of all was a waste of everyones time working on the project. If the Nostalgia Critic bashes so called bad movies so much, why isn't his film any better? Look at the Busy Street review for a more in-depth look at this film that is sure to appeal to no-one. This film is a dirty, stuck-up, sadistic, crap house of a movie. By the way Also if you manage to actually watch this movie I salute you. It's just plain... RUBBISH! Really bad, acting not good, every character is the same, not funny, fail on all levels, an insult to the early nostalgia critic episodes just don't ever watch it! Watch the busy street commentaries instead.
griff66 Remember when Spoony and the Nostalgia Critic used to be funny? When they seemed like regular, down-to-earth guys? After witnessing 'Kickassia', that seems like something that happened in another lifetime. There were warning signs before, of course. Their previous one year anniversary special didn't bode well, but this film takes the raging Internet egotism and desperately unfunny in-jokes to hitherto unprecedented levels. Not just a failure as a film, this is a misstep of 'Love Guru' proportions, the kind of ego-stroking embarrassment that makes you reassess their previous work and wonder if they were ever actually that funny to begin with.Yeah, so they're just online critics making something "for the fans", but most of these people critique films for a living and really should know better. It's low budget, but many films have been made for less and managed to throw decent acting, direction and lighting into the bargain, when Kickassia fails to get even the latter right. What jokes there are come off as forced and poorly delivered, when they're not being outright lifted from other sources. Once a keen fan, I've been losing faith in TGWTG's material for a while now, and this really seals the deal for me. A sprawling epic of compressed awfulness that only the most die-hard of fans could ever enjoy. Avoid.
Annawilliams247 Kickassia stars many contributors from the TGWTG website and popular online personalities. Fans or people familiar with these personalities will understand the in jokes and gags used in the film. To people who have never seen any online reviews or who are not familiar with the personalities the film will seem confusing and probably unfunny. The fans of the TGWTG crew will like this film as it delivers well in terms of fan service. I, myself am an avid watcher of web shows and I particularly like TGWTG, I am pleased to say that I enjoyed this film. I feel that a lot of effort was put into this production and it shows the fans that the contributors of the website do care and are appreciative of the support the fans have shown. I understand that it must have been very difficult to gather the contributors and meet up for a certain date ,place and time to film especially because many of them come from different countries (for e.g. Benzaie - France , Film Brain - Britain , Phelous - Canada etc ). A lot of the gags are silly but entertaining and there are references to past reviews and videos which is a nice little nod to the fans. It seems that most of the reviews on here for Kickassia seem to be critiquing Kickassia but treating it as a stand alone film when really it should be seen as an extended fan service type of video more than anything. It's target audience (fans) will love it but others who are unfamiliar with the aforementioned videos and reviews may not enjoy it. Also I think it is ridiculous that some reviewers on here are criticising the production values and quality of cameras etc, its a FREE online film, it is not a Hollywood blockbuster! Anyway I found it funny and entertaining and would certainly watch Kickassia again.
