manikagarwal2 What a roller-coaster ride, m i impressed. Certainly. With all due apologies, i kept away from watching this flick for so long n m i surprised after seeing it. Guys leave all d rubbish people say but this certainly is if not perfect but still a well directed n picturised love story. Anurag basu is indeed a story teller, precisely a love story narrator n boy,he does his job well!!. Has been able to depict a beautiful but unusual romance b/w 2 persons who don't understand each other's language n there lies d best part. Both of them emote n enact their roles with aplomb. In fact they sizzle. Hrithik was a good actor, that was never in doubt but here he proves it all d more n delivers an emotional act. U seem to be involved with him whether he laughs, dances, fights or simply d best scene when he cries n 1 can c sorrow n despair in his body language, his face ,his eyes. Truly an actor who has given masterly performances in lakshya n guzaarish which bcoz of their different takes largely went unnoticed.. He delivers his dialogues in English with so much ease day 1may simply forget his native tongue. He is class apart,. Especially laudable is his dance at the. Beginning where he mesmerises n enthralls u with his effortless moves. n special mention of d gr8 work behind d camera capturing d moments in a quite beautiful manner, with a decent hummable background score. In all, this ain't any nonsense, u got to watch it n accept it for d performances, on screen persona of Hrithik, cinematography n direction. N as far as glitches go, give them a blind eye to enjoy n appreciate the good hard work... Hrithik the Greek god. .....
awmurshedkar KITES – 7.0/10 Director: Anurag Basu Writer: Anurag Basu, Robin Bhatt,Sanjeev Dutta, Akarsh Khurana, Rakesh Roshan So what was so wrong with Kites that critics bashed it thoroughly while the same ones went on to praise other seemingly "wanabe" pseudo intellectual films like New York and My Name is Khan? Were they not paid enough by the producers this time or was it something else? This is a phenomenon that occurs quite frequently in the Bollywood industry, let's explore it without giving it anymore importance than the subject deserves. The issue here is less as to why Kites was slammed but rather why similar films were highly rated. Kites was a very typical, average Bollywood masala film. So which films do we praise and which ones do we slam? Especially if there is no international opinion we can read on it? This is a dilemma I have frequently seen the Indian critics facing. More often than not, the decision is predetermined. So what happened in case of Kites? The film was big budget, it had an international face: Barbara Mori, Hritik Roshan had adopted a supposedly new chic look for it and everyone was eagerly awaiting its release. The critics found the golden opportunity they were looking for. The chance to prove they are really critics – "phew".Three Idiots, My Name is Khan, New York, Ishqyia and several others, all were trying desperately to be something different. The critics need exactly that: a film which basically has enough junk to convince the audience it's worth their time but in reality is hollow in terms of its script, story, structure and its representation of the actual issue at hand. So they pick it up and run with it, pretending the industry has struck gold. In reality, if they genuinely wrote honest reviews (or if they were capable of doing so), all the films would end up in the bin. Kites wasn't trying to do anything of that sort. It set out as a flashy, pop-corn flick and ended exactly that way. As a matter of fact, the cinematography and camera work was far superior to any of the other films I have mentioned above. It didn't have fake, incomplete and ill-informed attempts at making the film socially relevant. Once in a while, it is necessary to pang a mainstream film to maintain credibility. You can't risk doing that with Amir Khan (3 Idiots) or Sharukh Khan (My Name is Khan); it will only ensure that less people will listen to you the next time you open your worthless mouth. Mainstream Indian critics are the worst of the lot I have seen and it is a pity we don't have bold independent people willing to put their necks on the line. To some extent, it is difficult to blame them since it is their bread and butter; but I wonder what is the difference between a sell-off critic and a 'bad' film that they criticize, both are ultimately selling themselves for earning bread and recognition.Kites is a very typical Bollywood film. The audience is expected to do what they are expected to do almost always, leave their brains at home. Go watch it without prior reservations and you might just find your money's worth.
Imran Zunzani Boy; after so many disheartening feedbacks from my friends; I actually enjoyed the movie. Hrithik; truly is the most charismatic actor of India. Barbara Mori's acting; her expressions; her smiles all are fabulous. She was great in the movie. I like the background scores and songs are also good. The best segment of the movie was about the dilemma of the protagonists and their snapping out of it. How two people could be entwined; purely due to feelings; traversing region, language; be it their destiny; is beautifully portrayed. Although; I didn't like the ending, but it is believable; as it is not necessary that things ought to end happily. Also, Hrithik's dance, at the movie's preamble is great; as all of us are aware of this talent of his. Surely, the movie doesn't tell a completely unique or 'not seen/heard before' kind of love story; but the direction, great acting and the composing elements like scenes, landscapes, cinematography and music does make it worth watching for a great experience, when you are completely free and in a blue/romantic mood. Great Movie; 10/10.
CupcakeLovesMuffin This movie gets four stars, which it deserves. One point for the interesting and vibrant locations, one point for the songs and background music, one for the action scenes, and one for Hrithik Roshan. The introduction of the story is the usual, as you would expect. Set in America, Jay (Hrithik Roshan) is here to make some money, but fails each time he tries. Enter Gina (Kangana Ranaut) who says she loves him, but he turns her down. What he doesn't know is that shes one of the richest people in the city. Stunned at his luck, he goes back and asks her to be his dance partner for the upcoming competition. She agrees, and they become closer. Now, when Gina's dad meets Jay, he asks him to attend his son Tony's engagement, and that is where the story makes some progress. He meets his wife that he married for green card.. Natasha (Barbara Mori) or known as Linda. From there on, its pretty much predictable. The love, the action , everything looks as if its straight out of a Hollywoood movie. Barbara Mori does pretty well, Hrithik Roshan acts well but is just alright, though his dance moves are impressive. Kangana Ranaut is a huge surprise. The PROBLEM with this movie is not the story, but with the way the story is portrayed on screen. If they focused on one thing rather than three, the movie would have worked. There are three main conflicts. Gina and Jay, Tony and Natasha, and of course, their love story. If only one of these was focused on, it might have worked. The ending, is also pathetic. You think to yourself "what the hell is going on" As after you walk out of the movie theater, you realize that ending made no sense at all.Worth watching once.
