Omg..i cant believe i wasted one hour of my VALUABLE weekend over this FAKE DOCUMENTARY..(But unlike the others..i did NOT come across this one as a re-run in ANIMAL PLANET.But instead on YOUTUBE, while watching random documentary videos about mermaids.. ) As a med student,i was quiet fascinated with all the detailed explanation of the various findings..and the presence of organs such as Spleen and bones such as the pharynges..But during one of the slow sections of the documentary i curiously scrolled down to the comment section and found out that all this was absolutely FAKE and that all the 'Scientists' were actually actors ! :/So you can imagine my disappointment over this whole subject..im still in shock ANIMAL PLANET would air something like this.Im not sure i can ever look at any documentary on that channel the same way again.How sad.

The point of this film in my opinion is to engage the viewer and help us think ' anything is possible' it invokes a sense of wonder to the aquatic life, where do we come from? What did we do 6 million years ago? How did we evolve?Any negative views on this film are purely from people who didn't understand that they were all actors, However if these people had watched the program knowing we didn't evolve into mermaids they would have enjoyed the film for the comedic and engaging values it had.-Spoilers- I truly believed that this was a documentary, the film engages the viewer from early on by giving real life footage from real events involving the 2008-2009 whale beaching ,' government test bombings'. The film goes on to explain about a mysterious creature found at the beaching that was covered up by government officials, they found sound recordings portrayed by actors pretending to be scientists hiding from the government.Photos from mermaid equipment was shown and sound footage ( eerie and beautiful) is played and explained to be communication of a new creature.

I do agree with everyone that Animal Planet and Discovery Channel has, for the most part, lost their factual take on shows and specials, and after watching this, I've lost my respect with both. The fact is, is that we're not here for 'What If' documentaries that claim to be true when they aren't! Not only was it stupid but also very dramatized and hard to sit through all of it. If most people are curious to watch it because of the horrible reviews its getting, to have their own opinions... There are better things to do with this time, such as: biting all your fingernails completely off, giving yourself 1000 paper cuts on your face, take a nap on shards of broken glass, or to even have all your blood sucked out by leeches... All in which would be more productive and entertaining/informative....All in all, fake (duh), stupid, waste of time and widely advertised as a documentary that only belongs on the sci fy Chanel, not either one that people are supposed to have any respect for factual documentaries on! Animal Planet, Discovery.. You disgust me...

I think people are being to harsh on this film, I found it interesting and the thought that these may be true is simply too wonderful for words. Just enjoy the ride of what may be rather then only seeming that it may not be.This film also makes some very good points and it worth watching. The people who are just mad that this turned out to be a fake documentary need to learn to open your minds and just enjoy dreaming that we have some long lost brothers we have been dreaming of an telling stories of for eons. I adore this film, even if it isn't a real documentary. It may prove real someday.
