dowcet When NPR did a series of stories on gangs in Los Angeles, I remembered that I'd been meaning to see this film and found it streaming online. It was pretty disappointing, but not a complete waste of time. I'm not an expert on gangs, but I believe the other reviewer may be correct that this film is relatively realistic, and at the same time, it is not excessively graphic for a gang movie, focusing on various lives in the neighborhood. The worst part was definitely the acting. Some of the writing was painful too, but there were a few outstanding scenes. My favorite bit was a monologue (I think by Ernesto?) about the different feelings he gets (disgust, superiority, sexual arousal) from selling drugs to desperate whites. Certain characters like Blue Eyes and Puppet were also interesting, but otherwise the story was pretty weak. There was an interesting attempt at carrying a feminist message but it didn't really work for me. If anyone knows of a better film about Chicano gangs, let me know.
jcjmjc I liked how the movie was filmed is about it. They are telling you what happened in real life is liked teenagers go through that stuff but the good thing is that I liked the girls take care about their children and they never let their children with other people liked if they weren't anything. If I know that an other women is with my boyfriend I never go out with him or sleep with him also I think that that's truth about people they still used drugs and sale drugs so they could have money and take care of themselves. But that's life can do anything else have to do what you have to do.
tashab3384 I'm a High school student in Chicago. The movie was okay, but it was nothing I would have spent my money on to go see.It was about gangs. There was a lot of violence in this movie. The main characters in this movie were Mona, Mousie, and Ernesto. Mona and Mousie were best friends they grew up together. Things fell apart when they both start sleeping with the same boy,Ernesto. They found out about each other, and their friendship fell apart. They wanted to kill each other. Ernesto got killed. This movie was nothing new I see this almost everyday gangs, killings, girls having babies by the same boy and always fighting.
tnajah I am a high school student at Arts Of Living School. I liked this movie. It was about gangs, drugs, guns and murder. two girls named mousie and sad girl were best friends, until they let a boy break up their relationship. Once they realized that their relationship was more important than a boy, they were best friends again. this movie was worth watching, and I liked it.
