rat_202 I remember my grandmother buying me this as a small boy. I watched it so much I nearly wore out the tape! Sadly, time has not been kind to it. The whole bunny rabbit claymation scene is tedious and the re-imagining of the Bad video with children is just... bad. Then there's the utterly ludicrous story, written by Jackson himself, where he turns into a car, a robot and a spaceship, with a rather embarrassing Joe Pesci performance. Michael Jackson was the biggest star in the world by far in the 80's. Otherwise, this nonsense would NEVER have been green-lit. So, why do I now own the DVD? Two words. Smooth Criminal. That sequence is for me the pinnacle of his 'short films.' Yes, I've seen Thriller but I'll still take Smooth Criminal every time. The insane choreography, the music, the dancing... Who hasn't tried to do THAT lean? Jacko's writing and acting might have been lacking, but man, the guy could move. When I had it on VHS, it was my favourite part of the movie. Now it's the only part I watch. I do like the video for Leave Me Alone, though. Michael pretty much revolutionised music vids in the 80's, and this is one of his lesser known but very original videos. If, like me, you can remember the glory days of Michael,and were a big fan, then by all means revisit this. If not, move along sharply.

FlashCallahan It's basically Michael Jackson: The Movie. The film has no real relevant story, and the narrative is all over the shop. There is some kind of message stating 'Hey Kids, drugs are bad, that's why I called my album that, it's subliminal!!' It all starts with Man In The Mirror, then we get 'treated' a career in pictures, showing us his greatest moments, and the narrative basically telling us just how amazing Jackson is.Then there is a strange Bad homage, quite good claymation, another music video, and we are treated to some sort of mini-movie with Joe Pesci as a Spider loving drug lord who is a walking drug warning.It's all pretty bonkers stuff, but considering the subject matter, it's probably unavoidable.It's just not a real film.The first half is a love in for the man, and the second half is a weird science fiction come gangster movie where Jackson dances, sings, turns into a car, and then, very slowly, turns into some sort of aircraft.And this got released at the cinemas here in the UK.It's an oddity for sure, It just would have been interesting to see just what it could have been, it may have been something quite wonderful.

Irishchatter I just wanted to check this out because when I was on YouTube yesterday, I was watching the SEGA video game based on the movie. The video game was tried out by teens and how they reacted. So at the end of the video, I found out that there was a movie that existed and I was dying to check it out since I love Michael Jackson!Anyways I thought the movie was quite good, I love dancing and embarrassingly singing the words out loud to his songs. I have to admit for starters, the rest of the movie was kinda unusual because it was quick with different scenarios with his music. However, my favorite scene would be definitely "Smooth Criminal"! Well duhh, I suppose everyone loved it since it is such a great song of all time! I know the song was over 40 minutes and the original is normally 10 minutes, I wonder if the song was just based only on the movie or was it separate? I tried researching and it seemed to be confusing! Ah well, it doesn't matter, that won't put me off with this song, it is too awesome to ignore!The ending gave me chills with "The Moon is Walking". It was such a great idea to show the men singing away, I wish all movies would do that in their end credits. Michael Jackson was such a great performer and it's depressing that he is not with us today. RIP King of Pop 💟

wwe7961 This movie is one of the best I have ever enjoyed. Now I know what you're thinking. "This guy is doing this as a joke this movie sucks". Well the fact is I am telling my true opinion here. Michael Jackson kicks ass, and any haters can stop reading now. He is one of my favorite singers for a number of reasons. The main reasons why he kicks ass is....1.His brilliant singing.2.His awesome dance abilities.3.Creative music videos.4.His lyrics make an actual story.These days music is lazy. For example look at Lady Gaga. She lets a machine sing for her. She has no dance abilities. Her music videos try to be weird to be cool, but in the end they are messes. Her lyrics are moronic only surrounding three things sex, drugs, and being weird. I could make better lyrics than her with my eyes closed. MJ had songs that told stories not summaries of what happened at a college party. Today music is bland. Now after bashing Gaga fans I'm ready to talk film. It starts with MJ performing in a concert "Man in the Mirror". It is a wonderfully edited scene capturing the songs brilliance. It also shows how crazy his fans were about him perfectly. Then we move on to a montage of all the different songs in his career starting with The Jackson 5. Then we reach a cheesy, but an extremely enjoyable scene where MJ is getting chased by stop motion animation fans. Then we get a music video called "Leave Me Alone". It has great surreal images about how MJ is constantly mobbed by the media. It is a great scene. Now we reach the actual story. The plot is about a man trying to get all the kids in the world hooked on drugs. It is simply, but it supplies all it needs to. The effects are great, the direction is good, and I think MJ is actually a good actor. The highlight by far is the "Smooth Criminal" music video. It is simply the definition of awesome. The dancing is choreographed to perfection, the cinematography is brilliant, and you got MJ bringing his great singing voice. It is for sure one of the best scenes in film history. It all ends with MJ singing "Come Together". He remakes the Beatles' classic perfectly. It kicks so much ass I couldn't sit down for a while. This movie is great. So what if it is one big ego trip. MJ deserves to have an inflated ego. Now that he is dead music is done for. The next generation will grow up to garbage like Lady Gaga and The Black Eyed Peas. It is a sad looking future for music. At least the world has memories like this movie.4 stars out of 4
