Eddie Cantillo Mostly Ghostly: Have You Met My Ghoulfriend?(2014) Starring: Ryan Ochoa, Roshon Fegan, Adi Shankar, Madison Pettis, Calum Worthy, Eric Allan Kramer, Bella Thorne, Adi Shankar, Charlie Hewson, Casey Young Directed By: Peter Hewitt Review Hello Kiddies your pal the Crypt Critic is back in his favorite time of the year, Hooptober is upon us which means it's crypty's favorite time of the year to review 31 horror films in 31 days! Now I started with something that should scare the little ones and who better for the job than Rl. Stine, oh his goosebumps always rattled me with fear when I was a child. This is based on a novel or trilogy since there is three films about ghosts who try to locate there parents with the help of there friend Max, while the evil ghoul known as fear is using a ghoul named Emma to posses Max and take off his magic ring which protects him from the likes of fear. While Max try's to impress his crush Anna played by future wife Bella Thorne. This children's horror film based on R.L Stines novel is sure to scare kiddies and make them shriek for only about two scenes but aside from that it probably wouldn't scare children that much! But I'm sure they will find it fun to watch I mean I had a fun time with it heck I actually thought the acting was sort of great but the effects make the one's on the shows look Oscar worthy by comparison. Mostly Ghostly: Have You Met My Ghoul Friend? does not offer a lot of scares for children or great effects but with a fun hour and a half children's horror show that it is and the good acting it's a fun time I have a soft spot for Stine, I'm giving it three stars out of five.
Ted K This movie is just a redo of the original Mostly Ghostly with a more fitting cast (for instance the female ghost has a "brother" who could actually pass as such, unlike the original film.) If you've seen the original it may be a bit more enjoyable than if you see this film alone. (The bad guy may make more sense as would the history of the spirits.) Also the lead male actor is a bit more smooth at his chemistry with the other characters, as opposed to the previous actor who was nothing but awkward with poor emotional acting skills. As in any Disney channel based film, you can expect Disney channel based lessons to be involved throughout.
cynthiaholmes13 I'm going to start out by saying that I did not hate this movie, I actually enjoyed it. I personally loved the first one so much that I watched it religiously for about three months. The first one had by far the best cast of the two movies (Madison Pettis, Luke Benward, Sterling Beaumon, David DeLuise, and Kim Rhodes)where as the second one had only had one of the original cast mates (Madison Pettis)which is odd for a sequel to a movie to that came out six years prior. I really only had a problem with the casting and wish that they would have used some more of the original cast or people who looked similar in features not people that look the complete opposite of the originals. Also, I wish the would have came out with it a little soon then they did just because of the time frame between the two books is supposed to be one year and they came out with sequel six years later... Maybe if they would have filmed it sooner the cast wouldn't have grown up so much and they could have kept more them. Other than those two things I would have gave the movie a ten because it really does have an amazing story plot and concept. I suggest watching it if you want to know what happened after the first one ended..
chubbydave I enjoyed this movie. I taped it and have already gone back and watched some of the scenes again. It's an enjoyable movie.I watched it because of the cast. It was Bella Thorne and America's Angel Madison Pettis as well as the guy who played Rocky's brother in "Shake It Up". The guy who plays the main character was annoying at first, but you warm up to him. Also, this is the last movie in which the late Joan Rivers appears. She plays the grandmother, is only in one scene and only has a couple of lines. The plot is extremely lame. There is a weird looking guy in a graveyard who for some reason tries to capture a family. The two kids get away and become ghosts. Only the main character can see them. Then there is a ghost of an eastern European acrobat who somehow has a part in this story. I couldn't figure out what was going on.But the best part of the movie are the friendships. The main character develops a close friendship with Madison and Ty. They have a lot of fun together too. Also the main character has a crush on Bella Thorne. What would a Disney movie be without a dork chasing after the prettiest girl in school (in this case, the world)?I remember Madison Pettis as America's Angel in Cory in the House. There have been a lot of cute child actors. Remember that kid from Home Alone? He turned out to be a whack job. But Madison Pettis is aging gracefully. She has turned out to be breathtakingly beautiful. She can act. She can dance (there's a dance scene in this movie). She's on her way to a long career. Let's hope she doesn't go cuckoo. All in all, it was a fun movie to watch.
