gavin6942 The goofy students of a remedial drivers education class find themselves butting heads with their abusive police instructors.I had never heard of this film until 2017 when it was brought to my attention by Rue Morgue magazine. This is rather odd, because Rue Morgue is completely horror-themed, and "Moving Violations" is not, but they wanted to call attention to the horror fan who was in the traffic school.Overall, this is a comedy much funnier than others that are better known. John Murray is as good as his older brother, for example. And Jennifer Tilly is great, despite my not really knowing who she was until long after this film came out. How was I not aware of her so much sooner?
Yggort The most interesting part about this film for me was how similar John Murray behaves like his brother Bill, and that's a good thing. I still watch this film to this day and wonder.. Is he acting like Bill? Does John & Bill naturally act the same. Does John always act like him or just for this film? Are they copying each other? Was John told to act like Bill. Maybe both Bill & John adopted this style from an older brother, or even their father? It's the famous conundrum, which came first, the chicken or the egg?? We know Bill is hugely respected and well known, so what of his little bro who shows the same potential? Is Bill the lucky brother but they are all talented? So many questions from such an unassuming 80s film. Sadly there isn't much of a John Murray acting career to dissect. This film is pretty much his only major role, leaving us with very little else to analyse. All that aside, this film has some major laughs. Mix Police Academy with License To Drive. It's great relaxed fun.
merklekranz If you would like to wow your friends with a 1980s comedy that they probably have never heard of, then look no further than "Moving Violations". This movie has a cast of pedigreed comedians, including Fred Willard, Jennifer Tilly, and Sally Kerrerman. The lead goes to John Murray, brother of Bill Murray. His performance is far from unique, as it clearly mimics Bill Murray and John Belushi. In fact "Moving Violations" has certain scenes that seem to have been influenced by "Animal House, and "The Blues Brothers". Overlook these minor annoyances and be mesmerized by the rapid fire gags which make time fly by with maximum laughs. If you admire any of the above films or actors, this is a must see. - MERK
EDBAYES one of the funniest of funny ladies..... she will be truly missed by all................ I know she is smiling and laughing as I type. Traffic Violations (which I always called Night School) has her in one of her best roles. The girl who sat on the car lift to get oiled. You have to see the movie to understand what I just said. I did admire this fine actress and wonder why her death report failed to make television news or even a mention on the radio. If you get the opportunity and need a good clean funny movie to watch with the kids...this is the one to look for. Just get yourself a box of towels to wipe away the tears of laughter........Poooooor Wendi, and she had to run all those miles between oil changes.......even QuickieChange could not have written lines that funny.
