zurich_leader OK i watch a lot of horror movies, hell i collect horror movies and this movie made me want to cry. The plot was excellent with an interesting story that was fresh and original. That is about where it stops for me this movie actually had me sitting there forcing myself to watch it to the end, my girlfriend sat beside me asking me if we were really going to watch the whole thing over and over again. The acting was pretty bad and it all came off feeling a bit thin, the ending completely baffled me as there just didn't seem to be any logic to the story. i have no idea what the smell was meant to be or why they were stuck in a groundhog day situation, I'm stumped as to the relatively of the doll house (i thought it was an interesting idea though), Overall it just could have been better than what it was, i think if it had all been Irish it may have been better.
dontbreakthebend I saw this movie @ the Beloit International Film Festival last night... it was a complete waste of my time. I fell asleep during the first half and wish i had stayed asleep until the end. The whole audience was restlessly yawning and moving around in their seats, praying for it to end. Thank god i was buzzed from the beer i drank during the previous film. Towards the end, a few of us with good senses of humor actually started giggling out loud @ how ridiculous the horror scenes were. The acting was horrible and the scenes and dialogue were repetitive. This movie was boring and unoriginal. It should be labeled a comedy. OK, i need one more line in order to post this.
dschmeding I really wonder about a lot of the comments here. Either people are trying to sell a movie as the best, give 10 stars and praise it or they call it "worst movie ever" (theres plenty here, hehe!). Hardly anyone goes for the average points. In this case its the same... This movie is hardly crap as its hardly great but I think the team made a good effort for a underground movie which still has some flaws. First of all its bad advertisement of course... once again the whole packaging and titling for "Nailed" looks like the "Saw"/"Hostel" thing. But it sure is not... honestly I wouldn't even call this movie a horror movie. Until the first horror elements come up most fans of the genre will have yawned because of lack of gore or cheap thrills. But if you don't categorize the movie like this its a decent movie with slow pacing (comments are right that the pacing and buildup of the chill are way exaggerated. "Nailed" revolves around 2 black guys from the hood who manage a drug-deal for a local crook. It starts with a long scene in a strip-bar with loads of gangsta talk, then moves on to some police shooting and chase scenes until the two end up in a abandoned house for hideout. Like you expect the place is not that abandoned at all and they soon find a bandaged man lying mumbling in his bed and his strange smiling male nurse. From here on the thing is focusing very long on the 3 characters, mixing in some strange voodoo elements and flashbacks which lead to the final twist. Since "Nailed" barely has any violence or gore in it and even the subject giving the movie its title is hardly shown it relies on the acting. And in this case I think "Nailed" does a very good job. The actors are all very believable and subtle... the only thing that comes across rather amateurish are the police shootouts. First of all because of the acting and secondly because the guns in this movie sound like a popping champagne bottle. Beside this its all real well done. "Nailed" definitely has too little story to offer for a feature movie and some parts don't seem to fit tight (in the second half I can't see the meaning of the extended first half and many dialogs there). Anyway I had fun watching the movie because the atmosphere is nice and a lot different from most of those copycat horror movies these days and there sure are some nice ideas in the script which should have been fused together a little better. So if you are into slow paced "horror" movies with a little different vibe and rather atmospheric approach you should give "Nailed" a try. Its sure not a 9 star movie but its far from the unfair "junk" remarks and Uwe Boll is a ridiculous comparison by all means. So come on, at least try to be fair.
Irigy First of all, the poster to this movie (with the nailed hand) is very misleading, if you want to see the movie because of that - as I did. You most likely will be disappointed, since there's a similar scene in the movie, but it's by no means representative for the movie; don't expect another Saw / Hostel clone. While I liked the basic idea of the movie, the implementation was lacking in all aspects. The acting was (for this kind of B-movie) OK, some more realism in the way the cops handled their guns would have been appreciated, the effects (what little there were) were done acceptably and cutting/camera work was decent (again, you see a lot worse in the category of movies). My main problem with the movie was that there were several scenes that a) didn't make any sense towards getting the movie going or b) seemed to be a constant iteration of things that already happened / any awake viewer already understood. If you'd cut all the gratuitous scenes you might end up with a 45 min episode for Tales from the Crypt (they do have higher production standards, tough) but you wouldn't be half as bored as watching the movie as it is.The other major downer was that fact that there was no acceptable explanation for the things that happened (there was some kind of explanation, but it didn't make any sense whatsoever and left many points out).In the state the movie is I can't really recommend watching it.
