capone666 Now Is Good The good thing about dying young is that you die with all of your hair. However, that won't be the case with the ailing adolescent in this drama. When her cancer returns, Tessa (Dakota Fanning) formulates a bucket list comprised of high-risk activities.Despite her death sentence, her parents (Paddy Considine, Olivia Williams) still cannot condom her hazardous behaviour, urging her to mind her health. It's not until she encounters her kindhearted neighbour (Jeremy Irvine) that Tessa begins to feel her first glint of love.Adapted from the Teen Lit book Before I Die, this British based love story is an emotional and frank exposition on the final days of a debilitating disease, and the people and moments that make them memorable. Heart wrenching performances throughout, Now is Good is not only believable but also beneficial. Incidentally, the one unchecked item on all sick kids' bucket lists is: cure cancer.Green Lightvidiotreviews.blogspot.ca
line-schulz I found this movie when I was waiting for "The Fault In Our Stars" to come in the cinema, and I'm really glad I did. This movie isn't "The Fault In Our Star" - just to point that out - but it is just as real, if not even more. Even though cancer is a big part of the movie, it isn't about a girl with cancer, it's about a girl who knows what she wants and wanna experience the world before it's too late. She wants to have moments she'll remember when there is nothing left to do. The leading character - Tessa - is strong and honest and real. She is well aware of what she is going through and what it will do to her, but she just wanna live as long as she can. And as you might have seen, there's a very beautiful guy on the cover of the movie. He plays a pretty big role in Tessas life and how she evolves through the movie. And yes, of course there's a love story behind all the cancer, but as a teenage girl, what is more important than love? Both Dakota Fanning and Jeremy Irvine plays their role amazingly. They moved me, they made me believe their story and I really needed a hankie multiple times during the movie. So if you liked "The Fault In Our Stars", then I'm absolutely sure that you'll like this one too.
ahmadshah2370 What's the point of watching a movie if you in first 10 minutes understand what's the movie is all about? Yes, you may feel pity for the girl, and for few moments in the movie, you can not help praising the acting, but in the end, it's a movie you will forget easily. Acting was good from the side of Dakota Fanning and her father Paddy Considine, but other than these two, acting was actually below average. The movie is based on the book, but I think director could have thought from different perspectives. Like not fulfilling someone's own lousy list of things to do, but rather to do something having some kind of effect. The movies gives no inspiration for the persons who are going through this scenario in life, nor it provides any entertainment to general viewer. Dakota Fanning is a good actress, she tried really hard to flourish despite of this average story and script. But if you feel pretty bad about your life, and think you don't want to live, then you might take a chance to have a glimpse of the people who are craving to live one more moment. I just wish the movie was a great one, something satisfying though having a great sad ending like Million Dollar Baby, but it is not. IMDb rating day by day losing my trust. I felt my time wasted. Curse you IMDb!
plutus1947 Thank goodness that very few people have to experience the terrible disease of leukaemia, either the person suffering from it or those who love those who suffer from it.SPOILER BEGINS This movie is about a young English lady, Tessa Scott (Dakota Fanning) who is dying of leukaemia and has only a short time to live. Although she does not make a bucket list there are things she wants to do before the fateful day, above all she wishes to find love. She thinks she has found it with Adam (Jeremy Irvine). Adam is a very shy young man whose main priority is caring for his sickly mother after his father died.SPOILER ENDS When we consider the cost of making movies often runs into 100s of millions of dollars it once again proves that excellent movies can be made on a shoestring budget. Now is Good only cost $500.000 to make. This movie was made in England with Dakota Fanning, a Georgia lass, playing the very English Tessa.I have to give her top marks for the way she handled the British accent and had I not known she was an American I would never have known she was not English Now is Good has not won any awards yet and I consider it unlikely that it will but I do feel it is worthy of some. The screenplay by Ol Parker from the novel by Jenny Downham was extremely sensitively written with its fair share of lighter moments which made a very good balance with the inevitable sadness of the movie.Dakota Fanning and Jeremy Irvine played their parts admirably and with true sensitivity. All the other players were more than passable in their performances and the casting was extremely well done.Ol Parker's direction was also extremely thoughtful, sensitive and professional. When a child or young person is facing death from disease, whatever it is, it is obviously terrible for them but it is equally terrible for all those around them, both before they pass on and having to live with the emptiness when their loved one is gone.
