amiranda-39274 From every Warner bros VHS i had, there would always be a trailer for the alien invaders, it looked creepy and cool and my siblings and i just had to watch it, after the first viewing, it became one of our persornal favorites. Spoiler, there are real Aliens in this movie! They even start the movie with techs at a SETI radio station. The gang are on one of their classic roadtrips that always puts me in the mood for a roadtrip for some reason, when suddenly a UFO passes over them and their van dies in the middle of the dessert. On the way to town, they spot a jacaloupe ( a rabbit with antlers) near a mountain shaped like a scorpion. When they reach the towns diner, they meet some colorful characters, one being a supposed alien abductee named Lester, whose got to have the funniest lines in the movie. in one scene he tells the gang about his abduction and then the volume mutes, when he talks about the experiments they did on him with the gangs shocked expressions, im assuming hes talking about the "physical" that is later mentioned in the movie. he is shown to also be a stereotypical UFO nut, but a interesting and hilarious one! Shaggy and scooby are eventually abducted by the aliens, who look like broccoli men, but still have their intimidating moments. the next morning they wake up in the dessert where they meet a hippie girl named Crystal and her dog amber, scooby and shaggy fall instantly in love. Surprisingly ive come to realize shaggy has had quite a lot of girlfriends in the scooby doo franchise, but crystal has got to be the most memorable besides isla fisher of course. The romance in this movie is very sappy but charming, the song Groovy will basically tell you that ( shaggy imagines having a ty dye wedding with all of the gang present, and having a life with Crystal, but unlike other love struck cartoon characters he doesn't forget about involving his best friend, since scooby doo is still present in his fantasy; that to me is very thoughtful). The gang meanwhile go to a SETI radio station, where they meet 3 very nice techs, one is played by the always awesome to hear mark Hamill. Eventually the mystery takes place in a abandoned gold mine with still tons of gold, that the aliens have been mining. As it turns out the 3 techs are the aliens, which is surprisingly revealed very early, they even show their story of how they found the mine on the federal land and faked the alien hoaxes. Also as it turns out these are the 3 greediest sons of bi******** in all of the scooby doo franchise! Not only are they probably millionaires from all the gold, they said they stole cattle and sold them too, but when they meet the real aliens, they decide to capture them to make even more money!!!! The real mystery is why they even bothered to stay working at SETI, and not just buy the whole state! I digress, i promised real aliens, in the climax, a impressive fight happens with the real aliens, which are revealed to be crystal and amber! Their transformation sequences are equally impressive to look at, and when their real ship arrives the animation is stunning. Sadly crystal and amber have to leave, which is actually very sad, even Fred starts crying, after watching the whole movie you have grown attached to crystal and amber and their relationship with shaggy and scooby, but at the same time its probably for the best. The aliens departure is very stunning animation and it leaves me in awe every time. I feel they saved their best animation for the right moments in this movie, the songs are very nice, the characters are all great, and this is a very special scooby doo movie that always abducts me every time i watch it.
Owen Ogletree The third of the Mook Animation Scooby-Doo movies is another great one. People thought that Scooby-Doo couldn't be frightening, but then along came "Zombie Island." People then thought that Scooby-Doo couldn't affect them on an emotional level, but that's just what this movie did.We get to see a side of Shaggy and Scooby we had never seen before. In this film, Shaggy falls in love with a hippie named Crystal, and Scooby falls in love with Crystal's dog, Amber. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang is trying to solve a mystery involving aliens that may have been spotted. The true stand-out in this film is Shaggy and Crystal's charming and heartwarming romance. It feels very real and gets you invested in it. They have more chemistry than Fred and Daphne could ever hope to have. The animation is once again spectacular, and the landscapes are nice to look at and very well-detailed.The "groovy" song that played in the middle of the film was one of the sweetest songs I've ever heard and the ending where it's revealed that Crystal and Amber are aliens is very heartbreaking, making you really feel for Shaggy and Scooby. One issue with the film is that the mystery is very basic and rather forgettable. That does hold it back a little. However, this was still another great entry in this beloved franchise. While it doesn't match "Zombie Island," I'd say it's about on par with "Witch's Ghost." Highly recommended for Scooby-Doo fans.RATING: B+
kyle-mcdonald I have to say I have always loved Scooby Doo and I will always love Scooby Doo and if you also love Scooby Doo you will not be disappointed with this movie. Let me get started by saying that the storyline the movie follows is very cool and interesting, I found that it was very well written and came out good on screen. The animation in this movie is very well done all of the characters are very well drawn and look good. The voice over actors are very good such as Scott Innes as Scooby Doo and Shaggy, Mary Kay Bergman as Daphne, Frank Welker as Fred, B.J. Ward as Velma, and they even have Mark Hamil as Steve. The voice over actors do a great job with there voices and sound great. So make sure you rent or buy Scooby doo and the Alien Invaders.Overall Score: ********* out of ********** ****1/2 out of ***** Some may consider this a spoiler so that is why I saved it for last. I have to say how I liked the way they used both real and fake aliens in this movie, The main villains were people in masks and if you watch the movie you will see how they used real aliens.
Glyde Stick Scooby and the gang stumble into another mystery involving aliens, government scientists, a suspicious coffee shop cook, a waitress with a crush on Freddy, a cranky garage mechanic, a crazy old man convinced he was abducted by aliens, a nature photographer and her dog. While this episode follows the same basic formula as the last two Scooby films ("SD on Zombie Island" and "SD & The Witch's Ghost"), there is a new element added: Shaggy and Scooby fall in love. They meet a nature photographer (Crystal) and her dog (Amber) in the desert fall head-over-heels. There is a really fun song Shaggy sings while fantasizing about his and Scooby's lives with Crystal and Amber which is a whole side of Shaggy never seen before. This film is much more light-hearted that its two predecessors and the villains aren't nearly as wicked as Simone & Lena (Zombie Island) or Ben Ravencroft (Witch's Ghost). Freddy pops off some genuinely funny sarcastic remarks throughout the movie and there are a couple of good pokes at the original TV series ("meddling kids", paint-job on the van, etc.)Sadly, this will be the last film that features Mary Kay Bergman as the voice of Daphne. She died last November and the ending credit of the film dedicates the film "In Loving Memory of Mary Kay Bergman". She did an admirable job as Daphne and the makers of these films will be hard-pressed to find a worthy replacement.A must-see for any respectable Scooby fan!
